Geoff,
Bless your heart! It makes me sad that you had to work in these kinds of conditions and with bosses who had little to no concern for what effect it might be having on you personally. But that may be no surprise, really, mostly all they care about is making quotas. haha
I enjoyed the music and the words/lyrics!
Thanks, chum!

So, so pleased you heard the music and lined it up with the words. Check my Really Truly Christmas Carols and let me know if the music works on those as well. That place is now the Grace Hotel...fully refurbished if I did not mention that? Thanks for the great review.

I can relate to this. I did retail, however, people always called in sick. We weren't given the budget to schedule anyone so that one call in killed us. They then made our cashiers say paragraphs of stuff the no customer ever wanted to hear so we eventually just stopped with those. I totally get the short cuts people took that you talked about. They either want it done right with more time, or they want a lot of work done that may or may not be done their way. You certainly can't have it both ways. I feel my blood starting to boil from just thinking about all this again so I have to stop. But know you're not alone.

Good golly but you are multi talented and I love keeping up with your writings. I have not seen a poem from you before, just your stories and memories. I like what you have penned. Keep up the good work. Thank you for sharing and it is good to have someone share real life with the people who sign in to FanStory. Thank you again for sharing.

Thanks AnnieDawn for the great review. I hope you heard the music for the song. It is MP3 so it should have worked on PC or Appl/ Mac. If you did not hear the tune e-mail me at sankey48@yahoo.com.au and I will send you the MP3 file of the music.

Hi Geoff, I can see that this was a difficult position you were in. You didn't like your work place and you certainly didn't thrive. But the most frustrating must have been that your plight was being more and less ignored. I have to say it's grand building. Very well written, and I liked the poems. Kind regards. Ulla:))

Hi Ulla hope you heard the music it is in MP3 so even if you are on Apple/Mac it should work. Thanks very much for coming by. Hope it still had rewards.
-
I can't hear it although I'm on microsoft. Oh yes, it still pays; I think for a few more days.
-
Do I have an e-mail fort you can send you the MP3 of the music write to sankey48@yahoo.com.au unfortunately the MP3 file is too big to play the music for all the verses so you have to clock on the link for the tune for each verse.

Thanks for sharing these memories and for your humorous song. Kudos for getting the MP3 attached, too! We all can relate to those difficult and unpleasant jobs we had to deal with. But what a blessing that you have a wonderful and supportive wife!

Thanks for the wonderful review. I recently updated the sound file and glad I did for all non-PC reviewers.

I've always said about the Christian life, it's not what I know, it's who I know--Jesus Christ! This was a hoot! The building is lovely, too bad it was such a torture chamber for you, Geoff. And yes, fresh air does help you work better. This sounds like the first place my husband I rented when we were first married.
Always my best to you both. This was a very enjoyable and entertaining read. Winter is coming!

Having worked many jobs in my lifetime Geoff, I found it seemed more about politics than skill, more about favour than work quota, so I finished up working for myself the majority of my life, at least I earned money fr what I did, not for work conditions, this is one I missed, I learnt to be philosophical not a "victim". Well done, it's just corruption, at work. Well done Geoff, I could have written this, heh heh, well done, blessings, Roy

Thanks Bro You can see how relevant my song is re corruption etc. Bro Ben thought it reminded him of Grace Bros the British comedy I directed him back to a previous chapter way back where I worked for a place that was exactly like Grace Bros. Hope you heard the tune to my song. It looks like a good idea to get all these chapters out again hope you read the other two I suggested unless you probably been there before.

Well done

Thanks for adding the photograph of the impressive Grace Building and to your wife for her typing skills. I'm glad to hear the old trams are returning to Sydney as well. I am sure your note helped to get some of your frustrations off your chest--I especially liked your use of "backstabbing" versus "backscratching". Your song was a bonus and says it all. And your friend's farewell was spot on! Big cheers- Joan

Thanks Joan hope you check the previous two chapters as well if you have not done so before much appreciate the lovely review. Did you hear the music? I think it is MP3 and should be able to be heard by PC and Apple Mac alike?
-
I did not have time to see if I could catch the music on my Mac, but will try to do so in the future. Smiles and have a productive, new week- Joan

Being MP3 it should work ok.

I can't believe these working conditions. I also can't believe that I missed this post the first time around. I hate that I missed so much of your work. Sorry.

Well I am glad you have come around this time. Please look at the 2 preceding chapters if you have not already I think you may have done before. I posted photos of my trips into town recently and my visit to the now Grace Hotel as well. I forget if you are on Facebook? Or I can send you a link to my city trips that are on Facebook and you can see them even if not friends on there. I think I have an e-mail for you? Write to sankey48@yahoo.com.au in case we don't have yours. Hope you heard the song? Should have as it is an MP3.

I think I understand your experience. The building and the name Grace Bros, reminds me of British Comedy, "Are you being served." Very funny . Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks Bro. Yeah actually if you remember back in my earlier working days (let me know if you wanna read that chapter) I did work in a place very much like the British Grace Bros and most of the blokes WERE QUEER too! Here is the link to that chapter.https://www.fanstory.com/displaystory.jsp?id=722273
