Oh this is delightful. Lemon meringue is my favorite. It was my dad's favorite, too. My mom made great pies and this was one of them. Good little senryu. Very enjoyable and good luck in the contest. Marilyn

I like this. The humour (and nostalgia) shines through the words ... and especially the title! I love that you have kept to the syllable count and that the whole runs so smoothly to the end. Just one thing: I think it should be 'meringue'.

    A double thank you for your thoughtful review, Marion! (I had to see who wrote it, so I took a peek at your profile.) Of course you are correct about "meringue!" I made the correction ASAP, so maybe fewer people than otherwise will discredit my sincerity.

Mothers and grandmothers recipe sometimes it is like trying to find treasure you know it exists but just cannot find the last piece of the clue, well done, excellent****kahpot

This is an excellent entry for the contest
with exact syllables at 5-7-5
Many will relate to the theme
For me it would be cream pie or apple dumplings
But lemon merengue sounds good, too
