A fun little poem friend, it is amazing what power that furry little creation can wield when given half a chance. Age is no barrier, young or old it can captivate and bring warmth. An Excellent poem for the contest, good luck!

Excellent Poem! The author's words are sweet, heart felt and thought provoking.
The poem flows and connects well. Thank you for the author's notes. Even though
there was no artwork I pictured a Teddy Bear!

Dear Friend , Thank you for your review and the five stars. Yes, the Artwork?? I had selected an appropriate picture and put it on the piece, but, for some reason it hasn't connected. I'll have to have a word with Tom about that . My own bear named Prosper is the size of a toddler child with gold flecked light brown fur and a growl. We recently brought a couple of pussycats home from the Shelter and they roamed around the house to get used to being with us.Missy the young one jumped up onto the spare room bed where most of the dolls and teddies live and Prosper rolled over and fell on her (Oh so lightly)
Poor mite, it scared her out of her wits, but we did laugh (and laugh and laugh) as she returned to the scene stretched out to twice her length, tail abristle, ears flat, eyes huge, paw with claws unsheathed at the ready to give that Kitten Attacking monster a taste of its own medicine. To add insult to injury ,it actually growled at her. She fled again, but since then has warily crept up upon it and sniffed, before curling up in a box of patchwork scraps right next to Prosper. She's a dear little cat and along with her we also brought home another cat 7years old who we have christened Rex. He too is a sweet natured little soul, who loves us as much as we love him. Anyway, thanks for the review cheers Cass

Be brave, be strong be good my friend
For surely will your troubles end
But if it's hard and you aren't ready
When all else fails , then hug your teddy. '
This reminds me as a purer version of the film Ted which is very uplifiting. I loved this! Well done this was fabulous love Meia x

This work has reached the exceptional level

I just loved this as it brought back a memory of a gentleman I used to care for who had a wall of teddies that belonged to his departed wife. One day he asked me if I would like some. He knew I was Kooky the Clown and so I said i would take some and find good homes for the ones I took. I took very many and gave them to children who I met and I thought would give them a loving home. Sad to say the gentleman passed away before I could take them all. But Thanks for Sharing and I agree entirely with the sentiments and just loved it.

Dear Kooky, thank you for your review and the awesome SIX stars. That is a sweet story you've shared about the man with his wife's teddies. I am sure they are together again, probably with an even larger collection and open their doors to all the little angels who come to play with them. Thanks again cheers Cass

The rhyme scheme of rhyming couplets within the quatrains works very well aqnd the poem kicks off with a truly uplifting anapestic rhythm that it maintains throughout the first stanza. After that the rhythm starts to implode and the rhythm, which this type of poem needs to maintain is lost. You can see this simply by looking at the line length. by the time we get to the third stanza a whole metric foot has been lost and we have come down from tetrameter to trimeter.

I only this had maintained the rhythm of the first stanza it would have easily been worth five stars as there is a lovely story underpinning it but as it is I cannot in all honesty award more than four.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

Dear Mystery Writer,

I think there is something magical in a hug - whether it be from a human or a critter or a stuffed animal. *smile* It just soothes our soul. This was a fun piece. Good luck in the contest!

Dear Robyn ,thank you for your review and the five stars.Yes it was fun to write and also to recall the days when my children made up games to include their teddy bears while I watched and listened with huge enjoyment. Then at bedtime they would both climb into bed with their teddies also in pyjamas. Sweet memories cheers Cass

Awww this is sweet and uplifting indeed! Nothing like arms wrapped around and a face smooshed into soft inviting fur.

Good luck in the Uplifting Poetry contest!

Dear Friend, thank you for your review and the five stars. You sum up my thoughts most clearly. My own bear Prosper is as big as a toddler child, with light brown fur flecked with gold. and do you know what? He smells NICE. I found him upside down in a bin at Goodwill, fished him out (where upon one of his arms nearly came off ) and paid a small price for him because he was going to be thrown out .The minute our eyes met , I knew he was THE ONE for me. He has been head of the Bear Clan ever since. There are another six bears at last count, but who knows what may happen in the future. any way thanks again cheers Cass

Awww that's so cool! I have a similar story! I came across my little one (named Princess by my granddaughter) at the Salvation Army Thrift Store in a large metal crate filled with random donated stuffies. I think they were $1 each. And this little brown furry wonder was scrunched in the corner upside down staring out, smiling at me! I plucked her out of there and we've been besties ever since! I'm so pleased to know another who has had a similar experience. :)
