Hello Sis Cat, I can see why your senryu was a contest winner.
Great alliteration:

cream castles chill
children's

(just fantastic)

Your poem is filled with joyful imagery and leaves the reader with the feeling of ahh. Well done. Congratuations on a well-deserved win. LateBloomer

Congrats on winning the contest, dear friend. I'd missed this one (perhaps it was a blind contest...?) Good tone and imagery. Good presentation. Good form. NIce internal rhyme (though I am unsure if traditional senryu really permits rhymes or not...i still like it!) nice alliteration of C and consonance of L and M and S

Warmly, rd

Oh, thank you, Rama, for your review of my senryu. It was a blind contest which is why you were not notified. Thanks again.

Even when the temperature drops well below freezing, and we should think of hot food, we dream of ice cream, frozen yogurt, or gelato.

Thank you, Mark, for giving my award-winning Senryu its last review before the certificate expired. We had hail in the lower elevations and snow in the upper throughout the Bay Area today and I would still eat ice cream, frozen yogurt, or gelato. Thanks.

Excellent senryu makes me want a bowl :-D. Poem flows well and creates a strong mental image using very few words. Good use of alliteration. I don't see anything that needs to be changed.

Andre,
Hello classmate. I am excited about the tanka class and elated you are taking the class, too. I have taken both haiku classes Gypsy teaches and jumpede at the opportunity to learn tanka. As Ed Sullivan said, "It's a reeely beeg show!" Oh, yeah, your poem. Ye-haw and tabasco! Congratulations on winning the Write a Senryu Contest. Your's is a fun read and tweakede my three the gray cells of whimsy.

SIs Cat,

I can see why this senyru won the contest. Who does like reading a poem about ice cream? In fact, after reading this poem, I am craving ice cream. I can imagine children dreaming about ice cream as I read this poem. I LOVE the last line, which was very clever to use Shakespeare's work.

Thank you for sharing.

This is so sweet (pun intended, lol) I have trouble keeping ice cream in the freezer--my grandkids are ice cream fiends. Thanks a lot for doing this to me when I'm trying to be good and not eat all that delicious stuff. Lol. Tasty senryu.

And, by the way, congrats on your win.

I like your meaningful poem and I enjoyed reading it. It flows well with good use of alliteration of words cream, castles, chill and your artwork choice goes well with your thoughts.

Sweet poem. I love the visual of an ice cream castle chilling the tongues of young and old. Enjoyed the pairing of chill / thrill and cream / dream rhymes.

Senyru, syllable count: 5-7-5

ice cream castles chill
children's tongues and thrill old souls--
midsummer night's dream

Well done! Enjoyed reading this poem.
