This exudes emotions about the effects of abuse and letting others know they aren't alone. These are scars that are hard to heal but with help maybe they will
Congrats on placing in the contest.

Your free verse poem is awesome, Tony! The alliteration, bit of rhyme, enjambment, and emotion are all wonderful. I can't believe the beauty in the photo you chose. Those barbs from a barbed-wire fence that turn into birds flying to freedom is perfect for your words. Best wishes to you in the contest.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Plenty of feeling in your free verse on freedom Tony. Are we ever really free or does the abuse, the oppression flee with them? An emotional read, and well said. Dramatic and powerful and I wish you luck in the contest.
cheers,
valda

Oh yes indeed. I do hope they let you get away with this piece of metrical, rhyming free verse. Personally I am all in favour of this sort of thing as it sings and dances beautifully along the way. In no way could one write a rhyme scheme for it either, even though it contains a plethora of rhyme, but plethorae are allowed as long as they are not regular, and this is about as regular as Brutus was an honourable man.
I love it and I am going to give it six.

I don't think mankind will ever totally know true freedom. Seems it's always bought at someone else's expense. And, as you said, we continue to take us, with us. A great free verse Mr. Tony, blessings...

This is the first emotionally sad poem I've read from you. The visual imagery is depressing, sad and completely bleak. Communists, dictators, murders and cereal killers... They're just stupid. How to make everybody optimistic..... Good luck in the contest :)

Hi Tony, what a lovely and powerful free verse about the cost of freedom and oppression. I could not agree more with the need for balance between the two. There's an old saying that it takes discipline to be truly free. Excellent rhythm and use of rhyming in the lines of your free verse. Best wishes to you in the contest.

It comes down to what we will really accept in society. How much do we let get by without hurting someone. I love the premise of the well written poem and the picture is amazing! I wish I had a six for you.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day and God bless.

Bravo, Tony;
-a conscientiously Concrete and captivating piece of free verse poetry that I truly enjoyed reading and definitely understood its profound relativity to freedom and how it affects each one of us in different ways.
-The fluidity of this writing was indeed comfortable reading and enticingly made the reading fun and enjoyable. Yet, the words that were offered to this conceptual theme were none other than those atrocities that had taken place in the history of our growth as human beings. Our torturing of others that we call human beings was this atrocity yet have we learned from it all and have we actually set ourselves free from those memories.
-Very well written and good luck in the contest, Tony, and take care and have a good one.
-I truly love the barbed wired picture and with some of the barbs were floating free as birds. Quite and very effective.
-Take care and have a good one.
