Congratulations on winning the Poem of the Month. This is certainly deserving of a win. I love it!
Your rhyme and meter are perfect, and your poem flows beautifully as you describe this moth.

Oh the moth And it's inspiration for it makes a good artistic verse to describe the insect that Did not neglect and you added to it's existence with this good prose. All the best

Hi T, this is an exquisite ballad and excellent use of imagery for the magic of metaphor. I loved this not only for the spot on and natural sounding rhymes and rhythm, but also for the clever use of the moth as a symbol of the dreamers spirit for a poet. Lovely write and best to you in the POM contest.

I loved the way you seamlessly narrated the alighting of the moth on the pane, 'neath the barest breath of breeze and your chance to form a temporary relationship but thinking better of it after weighing up your options.
Mmm...Much better to pen an eloqent engagement through irridescent albeit blind eyes and some very astute and observant peepers...as opposed to you letting it in and then chasing it about the room in a mad cap escapade only to have it completely shed its lifetime powder quota on all your walls along with it's ability to fly LOL
Awesome write, yet again Tony but I'm all outta sixers dammit! Sorry mate. I actually am not that keen on these moths, however you have given me a new appreciation for their freaky looking irridescent windows to the soul so I will think of this delightful poem and your clever self, next time I am chasing one around the room haha
I just LOVE the way poetry opens up new perspectives or broadens stuffy narrow minded ones of olde LOL You da bomb, Tony.

Comment from His Grayness
Absolutely brilliant! Very clever and delightful to read. This offered a very nice introduction and understanding of the Moth's world and then delivered the compassion for it's situation and wrapped it all in a very well penned poem. I loved it and apologize for being short of the sixth star it truly deserves! HIS GRAYNESS; Vance

This is a lovely read Tony about the moth on the windowsill. You describe it beautifully -
a feathered brush on powdered wing -
The yearning to 'let this dreamer flutter in'
A really lovely read, well done Tony.
cheers,
valda

I am not sure what I can say about your poem except wow! Such a beautifully written poem about such an mundane insect, one that it to often mushed under a rolled up newspaper or zapped by a bug zapper.
Simply a stunning poem...

Not many poems around about the moth. Your poetic form is smooth and clear.
I like how the poet chose to keep the window closed and the moth inside. Excellent use of words that create a fantasy feel to your words.

Gosh Tony, you've written a beautiful allegory to that moth. I've often seen Moths with exquisite patterns on their wings. Your photo clearly shows the 'eyes' in the wings. A most enjoyable poem all round, Giddy
