firstly, let me send my heartfelt condolences for you massive loss... I lost my mother this last June. It's something that tears at the very fabric of one's knowing... that's for sure.
I love that you wrote this with pure heart and grace... as we all should know, we are within a very special community of those who genuinely care about and for each other, if only through words.
One thing to look at...
how I was holding up(doing) 'during' this difficult time.
It's always beautiful to see and feel the 'love'... especially in times of need.

Regrettably, I can't recall if I read your poetry, but this message is so beautiful and reflects a sincere gratitude for the Fanstorians, who are some of the dearest people who walk this earth.
Although I have been member of this site since 2008, I have taken very long sabbaticals (years) from the site due to the demands of my work and life in general. Lately, I have frequented the site more than usual, but solely on weekends.
Ironically, one of main reasons I was away from the site for years was due to nearly losing my mother after a minor surgery ( a very long story) and the actual loss of my brother. I was caretaker to my brother, and I am still caretaker to my mother.
I am mentioning this because I can relate to your pain of losing a love one, especially a mother. A mother/child bond is indescribable, and I am extremely close to my mother. I agree with you it is extremely important to spend adequate time with your love ones. We can't take that time for granted.
Based upon the words that you express therein this post, I can tell you had a close relationship with your mother, which is endearing. She left the earth, but her memories live within.
I have not read RGStar's tribute poem, but I will read it after I review your post. He is one of the finest poets on this site. A poet who I highly respect.
My sincerest condolence on losing your mother. May God bring you comfort.

You have written with heart and sincerity and none could have said it better or meant it more, for it is your time to speak, to rise so all know your name for there are many good souls here, and together we will lift you dear lady, for sometime in our lifetime comes a period where something, or someone is necessary, for I will say, believe or not believe, God means goodness, and where there is goodness, there must be God.
Even without mentioning The Divine, for I seldom do as it is a private part of me, shared in my doing, goodness relates to all who make it their will to cherish, help, and nurture the sick, unwilling, the poor, the headstrong, the haters, the lovers, and all the being who have aptitude to love and feel love, and that is down to the tiniest creature that can feel such, for it also feels pain.
You are remarkable...and I| couldn't help having admiration fro dear, Nan, who is as sparkly and jovial, as well loving as if she was 23...remarkable.
Portia, you are a soul indeed that will go on to a beautiful place when time, I know not where it is as I cannot define, for everybody's heaven has a different concept, but no the garden has bloomed for special persons, and amongst flowers I hope to find you, my special Person.
It is not weak to cry, for I do, often, though strong. It is a gift in feeling apathy, love and the passion in loving, for no one cries of selfishness unless seeking forgiveness,
All who mention you are of the same conclusion...a beautiful soul...and I can offer no different, for you are such.
All I have is heart, and I hope enough for those who understand it as well, cherish it, for there is nothing then can hinder its process.
Now rise my good friend, it is your time for another chapter, with hope I am also written in it.

My Dear Friend,
Your words are always so kind and encouraging. How blessed I am to have you as a friend.
I know it is time for me to be still and allow this ripple effect of love to continue what God has set into motion. Some family members are reaching out to get back that closeness and love that our mother taught and instilled in us.
God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.
I will rise my friend, for the joy of my strength is in the Lord. Knowing you are always close by, just a click away is a blessing I will always treasure.
