Now this is a tall tale if I ever heard one. I say that because I had a grandfather clock. Still, I admire your ingenuity with plot, which is fun and descriptive. I'm glad the mouse got away. Marilyn

Very cute read. I love old clocks and somehow the idea of a mouse with the clock just works nicely. Great imagination and a nice little story. Amazing how quickly 50 words gets used up. Good word usage, too. Very good work here.

So mice really do run up and down the clock. You have given me a new vision on the old nursery rhyme. I love grandfather clocks, but not mice. Crafty creatures. Great job. Good luck in the contest.

This fifty word story, Mouse on Clock, is a slice of life that might make the reader think of many things. I, for instance, thought of my granddad, and the clock on Captain Kangaroo. It also brought to mind the hickory-dickory-doc song, and then three blind mice. Your story is a key to open the timepiece that allows us to remember what the swinging pendulum has taken (...and the dish ran away with the spoon).

I enjoyed this very graphic account of the mouse in the clock working his way out.

What makes this a good entry is that you used one continuous sentence that sort of mimics his journey.

a nice memory succinctly told.
good visuals, easily followed.
and you leave the reader (me) wondering, did you freak at the mouse???
I'm just kidding (not really) but that wasn't the point of your story.
It was well told within the 50 word constraint. good job.

Pretty good entry to the contest with a complete story in 50 words. I guess this puts a new swing on "Hickory Dickory Dock. The mouse run up the clock."
Very well written.
