I love your poem Karyn. It says so sweetly what many of us would like to say... thank you troops, who serve so willingly and the families who pray and wait so patiently. This is a beautiful picture you've painted and a great entry for this contest. Good luck! Merry Christmas to you and your family. MM

Oh, MM, I'm so grateful for your awesome review and comments for my poem. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it, and your gracious rating is appreciated so much. My heart breaks every year thinking of the soldiers away from home and their families during Christmas. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas season of love, laughter, and memories.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

I don't think that many civilians really understand the effect that service life can have on families. This is a beautiful poem that shows it well. Sadly there will be many little girls not so lucky.

Thank you for your review, Tony. I always wish at Chistmas time every soldier would be able to get home for a few days to spend some time with their families and friends. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to be so far away. I appreciate your comments and kind response.

A very well-written heartfelt antonym poem. We sometimes take our loved ones for granted when they are always around us. When they are far away we are grateful for the times we can spend together.

A-w-w-wwwww...
Now this is the kind of sugary sweet stuff that readers and contest voters seem to connect with the most here.
Heartsick and happiness...both are good "h" sounding bookended antonym words, and both wise choices I would think.
Good, solid message that tugs at the heartstrings.
Best of luck.

I saw a photograph of a soldier in an airport holding his infant daughter before leaving for overseas. It moved me and broke my heart. I sincerely wish every woman and man in the services would be able to get home to be with those they love at Christmas. Thanks for your review nd feedback, Dean.

I was one of those military men once, made to leave my family behind to serve my country.
And while it was extremely difficult to do, I would do it all over again if given half the chance.
I'm sure the majority of brave young men and women in our Armed Forces today feel just the same as I do.
You're very welcome, and Merry Christmas to you!

This is the perfect poem for the Antonym contest. Heartsick and happiness. What a joy for a little girl to have her Daddy kiss her on Christmas morning. The content is heartwarming and the poem flowed well. Good luck in the contest.

Poet,
You surely made the most of the antonym form.
Such a sad and relate-able first section and such
an uplifting ending. Very clever and creative use
of those few lines to compose and convey an impacting
message.
Very strong author notes as well,
Linda

An excellent contest entry! It looks like a good bet to finish in the money;
You've got all those folks who can't resist a cute little kid, in the bag from the git-go, and throw in the sentimental "Aw shucks"-type voters, too! You really know how to pluck those heartstrings. Well-written, to boot!
Good job, good luck, and happy everything!
