Lovely free verse Mary and this winter Solstice day, you really do make it sound like a magical thing to witness. Love the green setting, goes in with the artwork and Ireland too. Interesting author notes, add to this verse.
cheers,
valda

I've always felt that Ireland was a mystical, magical, majestic place, filled with wondrous verdant valleys and rolling green hills, Mary.
I've always felt drawn to Ireland but doubt that I'll ever get to go there.
The allure I feel is for reasons much as you've listed here. All of the legends and lore, ancient antediluvian architecture.
I'll wager that it is a beautiful and amazing country.

Thank you Dean for the lovely comments in your excellent review. Yes Ireland does have a mystical allure to it. I used to think there was not a lot of difference in English and Irish we all spoke English etc. But I have learned that we are very different. Our attitudes to life, or sense of humor, our hospitality, My many friends are English and I see the difference first hand. I may write an essay about it. Mary

    You're very welcome, Mary.
I've worked with both English and Irish soldiers alike.
And yes, they are as different as night and day.~Dean

A very well-written poem about the solstice happening today. We have the reversed version, longest day and shortest night, heading towards winter again.
