Read through this poem, I don't know Latin, I don't know the form, or much about poetry...
but I read through this poem several times. I thought things like, a sense of spirit and rejoicing, a sense of the new day coming, a sense of exsistance and then the night returning again with a contentedness about it.

It's a form that I invented, with the help of Pantygynt. I don't really know Latin either, but I don't let that stop me - ha ha. I do hope to learn it though, and I do know a little. Thank you :))

I tried to put together a brief overheard conversation in Latin for a story once.
I was so unsure of my results I gave it up. Love the web translators, but don't trust them. Anyway, this is an excellent response to the challenge.

The web translators can indeed lead one astray! Even when consulting ancient Christmas songs in Latin. I hoped Gynt would chime in, and indeed he did, so one line had a post-edit:))

I am giving you a six on this Trio of Sapphonic Triads. They each stand alone and work together, and it partly inspired my haiku suite. Each Sapphonic is hand-crafted to deliver beauty and contemplation. You start with the sound of bells of Christmas morn, to be replaced by angels rejoicing, and conclude with stillness and peace. The more I look at your poem and contemplate it, the more I appreciate its craft. This is very well structured and it has been my great pleasure to read and enjoy it.

I knew that there was something special about your poem because it stood out in execution from the Sapphonic Triad I have read from others. The quality leaped up with yours.

Thank you Joan, and I'd also like to thank Google Translate, and Youtube for putting the lyrics in Latin of a few of those old, traditional Christmas songs (the best kind, in my opinion).

Thank you, I do like the form, and Pantygynt helped me with the Latin. He had it in school, and I would have asked him when I posted but it was the middle of the night in his corner of the world :))

Nicely done. Combing quotes artistically and having them flow together to make sense is quite a talent. Good use of enjambment to bring all the lines together and move from one thought to another.

Thank you! I was totally unmotivated by the quotes at first, but with this potlatch, you have to sally forth and try to write anyway. The results are often interesting :))

I like not knowing if something I read is right or wrong. That way I don't waste time worrying about mistakes, and believe it or not, I can enjoy it just as much as if it were perfectly correct. LOL! We don't have to know everything or always be right. I mean, I watch people every day who drive themselves crazy trying to prove to everyone they know more than anyone else about everything. When in truth, they do a much better job of proving just the opposite. LOL! Thanks for another fine poem, Latin and all. :-)

Lol, you're like me. I always preferred going to Mass if it was in a different language. When in Europe, I heard mass in Hungarian and Latin (at the Vatican!!) and I quite enjoyed it that way. When I was a kid, I never listened anyway, ha ha. Sorry, I'm nothing if not irreverent.

This sort of thing is my favorite part of the holidays (other than the Holly King and the old mythology) I like the traditional, old songs done in Latin. So beautiful!

phrases added a certain amount of gravitas to this triptych :-)
There's just something grand about hearing Christmas hymns
sung in such an ancient and vowel laden language.
And I love that the heart of each triad can be culled and excerpted
to produce such a dulcet canto
The sacred sound
of ancient bells
on hallowed ground,
where fealty dwells...
washed out the moon
in waves of light;
a morning hewn
in rose and white.
Beloved peace
and stillness; let
my end be just
so sweet and still.

Thank you SO much, I just love the old, traditional Christmas songs in Latin, and this was a way of expressing that. I love that you said it has gravitas, which makes me very happy.
