An excellent historical poem about the battle of Little Big Horn. You made a wonderful tribute to the people who died that day. A great story in poetic form, and you chose a historical theme.

Great luck in the contest,
Rhonda

Service Poem notwithstanding, I happen to be a big fan of poetry such as yours that features an impeccable rhythm, excellent internal rhyme and tells a story about an event that took place in our nation's storied history.
Custer's Last Stand at Little Bighorn was an oft-told tale when I was a young lad, and as you've stated here, it was always romanticized to sound like some sort of moral victory.
In reality, nothing could be further from the truth I later discovered.
The rhythm you've managed to create here is reminiscent of the beating of horse hooves, en masse, or perhaps it is the beating of tribal Souix Indian war drums I'm detecting.
In any event, this is exceptional poetry and I truly wish you the very best of luck in the outcome of the judging for this contest.

Exceptionally well written. Tells the story so well and so clearly.

I love Robert Service. I have the entire collection of his works.

Good rhythm, internal rhyme, and flow. Couldn't be better. A true winner. 8-)

I felt the same when I saw you mention his name. I only know one other person who is a fan of his. I don't know why he's not more popular. He's is such a great writer.

When the contest is over, you must let me know who you are. 8-)

A legendary story told in the form of a poem.
I like the rhymes and the pace was fantastic.
The 7th calvary was terribly out manned and the Indians took advantage.
Good job!
Michael
