This story was very entertaining because I have a five year old who comes out of her room dressed in interesting combinations for school. She is always so proud. She would totally connect to this story. Good use of the repetition.

I like the way you presented this story and then reflected the beginning in the ending. As I read it, I kept thinking that the title should be "MOTHER SAID." Thank you for sharing.

Oh, Mary, this is the kind of kid who will go far and will
succeed in anything he does. He never looks at a problem
without also looking for the solution. He has imagination
and a wild sense of independence. Excellent piece. My
grandson, Noah, is five. I get to read this to him. -Bill

This is delightful for the reader it is intended for, My friend. Repetitious, yes, but I get the point of that and think it works well. In fact, if I jar my brain just a bit, seems to me I remember something like "Run spot run. see spot run. Run Spot run" etc from the dick and Jane books. LOL. bless you, Mary. Good job. Bob

Oh this takes me back to the one year of my teaching days when I had many in the class of seven year olds who would have benefitted from this sort of thing. Nothing too difficult and the concepts will be readily understood, as will be the humour. This will be relevant to most races and every social class.

that year nearly drove me mad. I was at my best with 10 and 11 year olds.

Well done and good luck in the contest.

It indeed is a cute story for the pre schooler or the beginning reader. I do hope you will make it into a book. I can visualize the artwork that could be done to go with the story. Patricia.

Aah, this is so precious and relatable. The little child determined to become independent and dress himself. His character shines in the story.

I love the repetition in the plot line. Actually, repetition is one of the ways a young child learns.

Just a minor misspelled word: The[y] aren't on my bed.

This story is enjoyable to the adult as well as to the child.

Isn't that typical of the child, they think they're independent of their mums until something dire happens, like being lost! I was, as a young man, pretty hopeless, this child sounds a lot younger, but I reckon I was as bad! Well done, Mary, a very perceptive work, concise and well written, the repetition is exactly what it needs, well done, blessings, Roy

That's cute. He's all dressed, and so proud of himself. Poor Mom. She can't let him go to school like that, and she can't hurt his feelings. Kids and adults alike can enjoy this story. Good luck in the contest.
