MaryKelly,

Congratulations on your win with this incredibly creative
entry! Wow, you packed so much imagery in those first
two lines and nice alliteration of the last line as well.

Great metaphor too! Whew!

Linda

Oooo! Very cool five seven five in the traditional haiku form. Excellent imagery and metaphors. Thank you for writing and sharing and good luck in the contest.

A well-written contest entry. Your words combined and flowed easily forming the message of the poem for the reader. I think you completed the challenge of the contest well.

Your 5-7-5 Fire poem benefited from not having any illustrations because you focus on the images created by your words alone. Your poem is haiku-like and makes an effective use of metaphor. Thank you for sharing. You got my vote.

Interesting take on fire...I love "clouds' dark cape" in the second line. Have never thought of lightening being fire...makes one think.

This is great...'mid-air matador'...genius...I never thought to describe the lightning and clouds like that, but I can now see it so plainly! Good luck, blessings...

I really like this one! The words are very expressive and the 5-7-5 count is right on. I love the ending - mid-air matador, very easy to picture the whole poem. Thanks, Carol

I love this metaphor comparing the drama of the bullring with that of the raging storm. It captures something of the essence of both. A cracking good entry into the contest. Best of luck!

Ah, now THIS I liked.
First of all, there's no denying that your 5-7-5 syllable count is on the money... photo index_zpsup88poh9.png

Next, the alliteration and internal rhyming you've used in your first line was not overbearing and added a nice touch to the overall composition of your poem... photo index_zpsup88poh9.png

And last, but certainly not least, the metaphorical reference to a bull fighting matador and the dodging of the clouds as the lightning flashes across the sky... photo index_zpsup88poh9.png

All adds up to a true winner in my book.

I'll be watching for this in the contest.~Dean
