Disemboweled guards, good one. nicely done on the Halloween haiku., jack o lanterns were used to scare off evil entities. Good luck on this and have a good day

Is a gourd a pumpkin? Nice little haiku about Halloween. Great accompanying photo as well Halloween must be just around the corner we don't officially celebrate it in Australia though I see many families and young kids starting to get into it

    In is in the same family DR DIP, it is one of the edible kind as we all know lol. You are the second resident of Australia to comment on the Halloween tradition we share. this is the best satori line i've read so far, excellent writing about the jack olanterns that pop up on halloween, i enjoyed reading this one and wish you the best of luck in the contest

This is a great entry. The picture is perfect. Your lines are correct for the haiku format. I like the way your described the pumpkins as mascots & disemboweled gourds as they are both.

What a fantastic sight captured and expressed by this poem.I would love to see a real Halloween, we here in Australia don't celebrate it but the trend is beginning. I can imagine how striking decorated houses must be and the sense of weariness all pervading. Well done

That kind of throws shade on the whole jack-o-lantern thing. I guess that's where all those pies come from. I think I'll skip the pie this year.

as well, as gourds..
pleasantly presented...in color
