This is a heart-wrenching story, very well told.
You pulled me right in, good opening line.
The blind elicit immediate sympathy, especially the blind that could once see, and have lost that precious sight.
Very real characters, and a good description of Freida. The holocaust took so many, and broke apart families.

Very good story. Lots of emotion that pulls the reader in without getting at all sappy. Nice balance between the boy and the old man. :)
