Good

A good read. I worked on a dairy farm for a season in Maine in 1983. Cows are funny animals. My friend had the milking barn and then another barn for farm equipment, with about half an acre of grass in between. One day a cow strayed and we herded her back into the barn by sticking our arms out to the side and waving our fingers like multiple little horns. That was funny.

I love it! It sure does take a special person to be able to do those chores. And the kids today complain because of the easy jobs they have to do! They have no idea. I guess I don't either.

Thank you. If you look way back where I started on here my writing wasn't too great. I made a lot of errors in grammar and dialogue. I had not written anything for probably 50 years when I first came on FanStory. I'm going to go back and fix a lot of them this winter. Thanks for checking my stuff out.

Thanks for sharing your fun and entertaining story. I was an Owner, breeder, and trainer of thoroughbred horses most of my life. I never realized that I smelled like horse shit or the barn all the time. I mean, since we are in it all the time we get to where we can't even smell it, until someone finally confesses that we stink. LOL! I called it my natural cologne, and Heaven's nature scent. Of course, after I started showering and putting on fresh clothes, I sure seemed to get more attention. Great job. :-)

Thank you. Yeah, one doesn't realize how much that shit smell sticks. I got used to it too and sometimes forgot to take a shower before leaving the farm.

I enjoyed your tale, a lot of dung flying around, more than I wanted to know or anticipated from the beginning. I did, however, find it comical and knowledgeable. People, such as I, never realize the strenuous and exhausted work of a farmer until reading a composition like yours. I appreciate the information and all the other shit you had thrown at us.

I feel your pain as I have been a diary farmer as well. Thank God those days are over. I also was the artificial inseminator for our dairy heard. Oh, yea, I understand shit. Enjoyed the read.

Don't worry about the critics most haven't a clue what all that job details. And besides some have to show their smartness and this is the only way they can. It was great.

You could buy a bumper sticker, "MEGA shit happens"?! I went to an old fashioned
dairy near Looking Glass Mountain in So. Ore. and the cows seemed so nice
and civilized. That was back in the 80's. I guess dairy farms are different now.
It is good to see that the process didn't get you. It sounds like a trial. I thought the
writing was good, and I guess it was supposed to be an essay, so well done!
