Actually...the same people win everything every month....what are the odds of that with impartial judges? One of the very best writers on site has like 2 reviews...fraud...unfair..and yet we put up with it. .?

Thanks Bro Roy. I have given up worrying. After July next year I will be outa here have to rely on the friends I have made to look at my stuff elsewhere. Have you seen this yet?? Dean Kuch told me alright to use on replies (Tom said)not on reviews.

Ahhh a common ground of frustration. Unfortunately this forum is all about who you know rather than what you know or the true quality of a piece. People will remark on poems that are most promoted, anything less than a 5 star rating is shunned and unfortunately many of us are amateurs who just want our ego patted for poor creations. Such is life on this site.... But I like a good ego stroking lol

hehe thanks Joanna. Can't remember if we met before. I did plan on getting out my song I swrote about exactly what you said. Keep an eye out...it is one of the chapters of my autobiography but I think I had it out as a poem/ song originally. Messagve me for further details. Hi there,

Not a bad little piece here. Always good to have a rant.

It is a bit insulting though to those who are recognised. I had 49 nominations this month and didn't win. I normally average 35 norms a month or so. I work hard at reviewing as can be seen from the reviews I give. I also really only review prose which is quite demanding.

I'm not a professional either. I work full time with kids with challenging behaviour and have a daughter with special needs myself. I fit FanStory around all of this.

Did you also notice this month that a new member popped up in third position?

A lot of hard work is expelled by ROM nominees. Not really nice to see it rubbished.

Glad to hear the new ones getting in there. I have not seen you a whole lot in the winner's circle ok! Thanks for the lovely review. Also glad another non professional has won some times. I won't be letting this thing bother me anymore. I may not be around much after July next year when my FS comes up for renewal. I have had to pay for my three years of membership and the year of my wife's old account that we both could not review fully, with. Good old Tom's Firewalls.

Yeah sis you are one of my 'old timers' hehe. I wanted to put it up for all the newer members as a new tribute to Mikey. Another reviewer's comment reminded me of it. Tom has castigated me for Promoting it in my Profile thoughts ha. I felt as it was a tribute to one of FS'ers old stayers he would not get his knackers yes I said knackers in a knot! Thanks for the fine review as always. Seems we are all aware of the clicks in here the award winner gave me a review of the poem plus her other input as well ha.

So sorry to hear you seems to resent that some of us win this contest numerous times. I had fifty review thumbs this month. I hope you do not feel the nomination was unfair, as I put my heart and time into every review...

The fact that someone else wins does not make anyone else a dunce! Please do not self-deprecate based on another's winning the ROM. While the contest is about quality of reviews, it also is about quantity. So yes, to answer the question posed...you did not have enough thumbs to be in the running.

I know this is satirical...but it still stings to read that my winning hurts anyone. Sorry you feel that way. I hope you win one day!

Love the creative rhyming in this well penned rant. It has a good flow too...and very fine alliteration, especially on 'nuff nominations - that's fun voicing, lightening the tone a bit!

I recommend continuing to review for the rewards it offers and not focusing on the ROM contest as a meter of success.

Reviewing is beneficial to others as well as to your own muse, as it helps to build 'muse-muscles' for developing your own craft and talent in the process.

Don't be a sore loser, dear Sankey! Be a soaring reviewer!

PS--I did leave. Many people kept offering to sponsor a membership. I declined numerous times. Then finally relented and agreed, letting them know that my participation would me intermittent. This month I was quite active due to extra time due to illness and circumstance. In general, though, I am not as active as before. So you can celebrate your chances to place in ROM contest improve with my absence! Last month, I had 32 thumbs but did not win. You need to review more if you want to be in the running...and complaining about winners wont help you in that regard. Better to spend that time reviewing!

I am full time carer for a disabled wife. Also on a disability Pension and probably don't have the time required to spend in FS. I do a lot of reviewing e=-including alot for no rewards. I am NOT a professional writer and I think there are too many professionsals on Fanstory. I am sorry the criticsism hit you today you are not the only one seems to get a lot of the awards. Also Tom is far too hard on we members who pay his way.

Thanks for your apology. I do understand how demanding it is to be a carer, having been one for my dad when he had Parkinson's before he died. It's important to not add stress to your load, my friend. It's very stressful to deal with disability constantly. i am sending you positive healing thoughts and prayers.

I recommend, as mentioned in my reply, that you review for the sake of its inherent benefits and not with the contest in mind.

For example, I rarely place in site contests (aside from reviewing) but that does not stop me from entering, as I like the 'prompt assignments'. I have no expectation of winning, and thus no disappointment.

I think the reviewing contest is the only one where hard work is mandatory and thus it is not at all a popularity contest the way voting booth ones are. That's the main reason I take offense to someone's jealousy or resentment about it. The ROM is always deserved, when won. It's not kind to imply that the voting is rigged when the winners are all deserving. I have faith in the ROM committee's integrity. i felt happy seeing Jay win last month even though I had 32 thumbs. I wish you could be happy for those whose sincere efforts are rewarded. As a carer, you already know that thinking of others before oneself has its own kind of inner reward as well...

Just some thoughts for your consideration...

Thanks Thomas I think we friended on Face book recently, correct? As I have shared with several others if we weren't having fun inhere we would have left years ago. DO you know Michael Cahill? I put up a Tribute to him I wrote quite a ways back again today. He has been such a wonderful help for the more than 3 years I have been on FS. God Bless. Hey had an Accordion I sold it a while back as my arthritis made it hard to 'wear it' Pity I sold it when I did the original owner I bought it from hoped I still had it as it was his wife's and she is now with the Lord. I would have loved to have given it back to him.
