Congratulations on your win. Island life is something I don't know about, being stuck here in Indiana, in the heartland of the U.S. I'm not fond of fish myself, so I know what the thought is. My husband loves fish and always orders it when we eat out. Perfect syllable count and form. judi

Thanks for the review and congrats. I spend alot of time in Zanzibar and they eat fish and rice every... single... day. I am not too fond of fish, but I do like my crispy calamari and coconut crusted fish. I am craving a burger after a week there and always make a little grill outside my bungalow for chicken shish kabobs and popcorn for the kids. Cheers, j

I couldn't stand fish every single day. I believe my husband could, though. judi

Good entry for the 1-6-1 prompt about food.
I've spent some time on an island and must say.......
though remarkable as it may seem, after just a couple of weeks of wonderful seafood dishes, you end up with a wholesome craving for any food/meat not derived from the sea!
Excellent artwork to express the wonderful atmosphere of the islands which can eventually lead you to craving a cheeseburger over a nice wine and lobster dinner!

Excellent job in the penning of the 1-6-1 poem about food. I really like this poem because I do not like seafood. The artwork that you selected is absolutely stunning. The very best to you in the contest and thanks so much for sharing. Blessings....................Portia

This is an excellent entry for the contest
with two good rhymes plus the internal one
and exact syllables at 1-6-1
One can tire of fish, but it's great on islands
where they know to prepare it perfectly
Gorgeous picture to match poem
Very well done
Good luck in the contest

Thanks for the insightful review. I spend alot of time in zanzibar and they eat fish and rice every... single... day. They like it over cooked and I try to tell them that the guests don't like it so dry,, but very hard to change their ways. I often make crispy calamari, marinating pieces in ginger and garlic, I add beaten egg and dip in flour, then fry. I take their local fruit jam and add hot peppers ketchup and lemon for a dipping sauce. yummo Cheers, j

I imagine if you are deserted on an island in the middle of the sea, after a while, anyone would tire of fish. I love going on vacation for a week at a time and ordering the fresh catch. It's always better prepared by someone else!

Thanks for the review. I spend alot of time in Zanzibar and they really over cook the fresh fish. A shame, then they do a coconut/tomato sauce to go with it (sounds good right?)but over cook that too and add eggplant and cabbage, so the delicate coconut flavor is totally lost. I am not talking about canned coconut, but freshly grated, then squeezed to get the milk. alot of work. I tell them to add that sweet milk at the very end, but they boil it for a half hour. Very hard to change the way their mother and grandmother did it,,,regardless of the obvious improvement. sigh, cheers, j I go often and stay for months at a time, sometimes the guests will ask them to get the mzungu (white person) that cooked last night ha ha. I always make a little grill outside my bungalow so I can cook myself.
