Well done, Don! Please note I came stone last on this one...
I personally liked this entry the best (but voted for myself as all selfish, vain writers tend to do!) Laughing.

Yeah, you have a hell of a nerve, Hayley! You voted for yourself, thinking greedily that your vote might make the difference between being in the money or not! But feel guilty no more. Under the crazy payout system, even though your vote would have resulted in my poem finishing in a two-way tie for second (instead of a two-way tie for third) the prize, (although not the ribbon honor) would have been the same - because first place gets half of the pot, and all second and third place finishers split the rest evenly).

Now that I've forgiven you - Thanks for your support, Hayley!

Thanks, Don! I was given to understand on joining that one of the stupid things about the site is the strategic voting situation where you are practically expected to vote for yourself which virtually neutralises all the first votes. I thought it one of the many strange anomalies I have found here, but just went with the flow so to speak. Glad you have forgiven me!

Nice entry into the Unrequited Love in 5-7-5 format for the contest. Cute artwork to accompany it. Although it is not required to rhyme, it does so very well. Good luck in the contest. God bless and hugs, Susanne

Don't pay any attention to those daisies. They know nothing. Lol. This is good. Made me smile. Most don't cause any emotion at all.

A question. Why do you capitalize 'She' as it is not at the beginning of the sentence?

Are you sure? I thought daisies never lie. You get a nomination for trying to cheer me up. You're not a shrink, are you?

The cap s must have been a Freudian slip. Cured.

    Thanks for helping!

Rats! FS rejected your nomination on the grounds that I already had squandered my monthly quota. I'm skeptical. Maybe I should demand a recount.

Hahaha. You're a card, Don, and thanks for the nomination thought. Appreciate it even if it didn't work out.

I agree that the illustration is absolutely perfect-the type of picture that normally can say 1000 words, But in this case is a perfect match for the words. And those words are so very true. Great job, thanks.

Loved this! Yes, the illustration is perfect. Your background yellow is a bit deceiving but does go well w the daisies. Clever wording.

Thanks for the compliments, Cynthia! What do you mean by the background yellow being deceiving? i'm open to suggestions.
I chose gray type to represent the mood of the lovelorn narrator, and the yellow bg for the otherwise pleasant day. Somehow it seemed to go well with the tongue-in-cheek illustration, but perhaps that thinking was too subtle. What do you think would work better? And thanks for the heads-up!

    Ogden,
No, I think it is fine. Didn't mean to be critical at all. Yellow just normally makes me think of happiness, but I think you are correct with the slight "tongue in cheek" and the grey writing. You have a really nice piece here; don't let my "sunny remark" in any way "rain on the parade. I think you have a winner here.

Don, I must say you are getting quite a knack for these short writes. This 5-7-5 is very well done and definitely a good entry for the unrequited love contest. Did you enter this as it doesn't look like it is in contest mode? ~DD
