This is an excellent nonet. Smooth and well described. Great content with some rhyme. This isn't the first time Earth has had climate change, but I guess you know that. With so much technology and the largest population on the planet--ever--and still growing, we will go through all sorts of environmental difficulties. This is a worthy entry into the contest. Thanks for your excellent review, Marilyn! I'm in agreement with all you've said, but, as I'm sure you know, I'm convinced that Man's work is the greatest threat to the survival of our planet, and The Donald's, if president, would pose a close second.

See--what bothers me about those with your POV is that you really are so uninformed about what conservatives stand for. Believe it or not, we want all the same things you do--just packaged differently.

I know very well what conservatives USED to stand for. Let's call a truce, Marilyn, and write more good stuff!

    Pitiful. Yes, truce.

Extremes of weather have long been with us - as your poem of
the long view nicely explains with catchy meter and subtle rhyme.

Great entry in the contest. . .OR. . .simply as a free standing poem :-)

Best wishes in the voting booth :-)

I am very appreciative of your perspicacity, Leinco! Thank you for noticing my nonet's "catchy meter and subtle rhyme!"
Unfortunately, the voters were apathetic. No votes. (I don't alert friends of my posts.)

Or get swept away in a flood, or starve to death due to worldwide failure of agricultural crops and the domino effect's resultant depression. Or, with fortuitous reversals, maybe none of the above. Chin up, William! :o)

I love this nonet, with the scientific history of the earth. All the syllables are correct. A very good entry I wish you the best of luck in the contest Mary
