Aww. You're too sweet. You'd have a tough time convincing my teachers. I was lots of fun for them. But several were amazing. Thanks so much my lovely friend. Love you too. mikey

Great job with your half-year anniversary post Mav. It's always good to have the wool pulled over one's eyes.

I thoroughly enjoyed my teachers and learned a lot from them, and almost none of it had to do with the subjects they were teaching.

A well-earned D is as good as a kick in the butt to get down and serious and write a paper that makes sense.

Thank goodness for Mr. Ward. Thank you for such a delightful offering to the Potlatch's half-year anniversary.

I was generally a terrible and disruptive student, Ange. Nothing to brag about. But if I liked the teacher, I could be practically a teacher's pet. I'd be straight A's one year and all C's the next. I hung out with the wrong crowd and talked too much. It's what makes me so damn cuddly. :)) Mav

Mikey,
I guess you really did learn as evidence from your excellent writing skills.
It is a wonderful thing to look back and take notice of people who (although as kids we don't realize ) have positive influences on our lives.
This is an astounding tribute and thank -you to someone who had a great impact on you .

Hi Mikey

A lovely tribute to a fine teacher. Yeah! Some of them actually want their students to learn and fin their way. I can understand those who do have to deal with some horrific behaviour, and the fear they must face each day. Sounds like, school was a labyrinth of conflicting mysteries for you! It takes a special teacher to have the patience and the caring to get through to troubled students. I doubt you were ever a flopper ... then I have no idea what a flopper is. LOL A wonderful submission for the Potlatch. I was lucky to have a few teachers like that ... then there were the 'other' kind. Well done. Huge hugs - Lovi xoxo

    Hi, Lovi
Well, not as far beyond as I sometimes get. LOL
A flopper is one who flops like a Broadway musical nobody goes to see. It's a "flop". HAHAHA! Naw, I'm not really a flopper, but it rhymes and the clock was ticking. :))
I had a few teachers who thought I was wonderful. Then there were the others who thought I was a terror. I was. mikey

    Hi Mikey

LOL I remember one teacher saying to me, "You've sent us two angels (sons number one and two) ... and then you gave us Aaron. LOL I think you and Aaron may have had similar experiences. :))) Aaron was loved by the teachers who understood his sense of humour, and well then there were the teachers with no sense of humour. The deputy principal loved him and looked out for all my sons over and above the call of duty ... I should have written a poem thanking him. He and my elder son had a great bond, he helped them in their triumphs and their fall and Alexander is now twenty seven and they still manage a catch up every few months. He knew how the boys struggled without a father, a lovely man.

Tock is ticking ... like you, I'm behind and determined this morning will be spent on replies. A bet you were such a cute kid! :))) Love Ya! Huge hugs - Lovi xoxo

-Extremely well rhymed with a very effective rhythm and associated words that were helpful for you conceptual theme and and enchantment that was effective bringing your theme across throughout your writing without a hiccup.

This guy was relatively old and had a reputation. I thought I was going to break him. LOL
He broke me and taught me. Oh well, I deserved it, luckily. Thanks a million, mikey

Hi Mikey,
I wish I had had a teacher that gave a 'spit'. Perhaps my writing would be far better and like yours if some one had cared to reach me. I love how you write and although I don't always fully understand it I always admire your enthusiasm.

It's a lucky thing. I had no idea at the time I needed one, but I sure did. Fortunately, you're a fast learner and catching up like wildfire. I'm inexplicable sometimes, even to myself. LOL

There is a car window sticker in this country that says "If you can read this thank a teacher." Certainly that would be a good thing but I want to add one that says "If you want to read this thank that teacher.

This is well done. There are some good ones out there and you're one of the lucky lads that found one. So did I.

Perfectly put. I happened to be at a point where I needed a good one. I was pretty busy being a fool at the time. LOL Now, I'm a fairly well educated one. I bit of an improvement. mikey

An excellent teacher won't let a good mind go to waste.
He had no wool over his eyes and you benefited.

This is a fine series of rhyming quatrains. A fitting tribute to your teacher.

Thanks a million. He was on to me from day one. I couldn't snow him to save my life. So, I let him teach me. LOL
I actually discovered I liked learning MORE than being a jackass. HAHAHA! Good to know. mikey

Mikey,
I enjoyed this tribute to a past teacher. I too, have teachers that I'm still fond of, that I'm still in touch with, that I will never forget. They molded who I am today.

YOur poem is a wonderful lesson in letting it all out there, and just letting the poetic spirit take over in the form of poetry PLUS it has this great narrative feeling, I feel as if we are having a conversation. That 's a nice touch.

your first stanza:

The wool went with me everywhere
a handy tool indeed
I'd cover eyes without a care
to cover every need

has great alliteration in the first line, and the 3,4 lines are very effective with the repetition of the word "cover" as if to remind us.

the playfulness of the second stanza is lots of fun and I enjoyed the bit of self-deprecation... which I know (being your twin) is a 'thing' we do. and we're quite good at it.

You go on in the next two stanzas to basically tell us "he had my number" though.. That usually gains them instant respect in our eyes, because usually... people tend to NOT be the smartest in the room, do they? ;)
(just ask us) lol

you end it with a new term for me... a 'flopper'... interesting... of or pertaining to a flop? or basically meaning that you flop from one thing to another? I'm not sure about that one... but I can put my own spin on it and get pretty damn close, I'm sure.

All in all, I truly enjoyed this, it has a wonderful conversational tone that I really love.
Great job Mikey
