This is a nicely rhymed poem. Very refreshing to read as here I sit in 95 degree weather.The description of the ice sckating is especially nostalgic. Great job!

I'm not sure what 'cracking the whip' refers to.
Something to do with ice skating? Hockey?

Thanks for the read and the comments. Cracking the whip refers to people holding hands and racing around the ice. The last person is whipped and he skates free circling the ice at high speed.
