This was very well done. It held powerful emotion behind it the whole way through but finished calmly and nostalgically, which was pleasing.

Wow, excellently done.
A strong contest entry, I love the reference to returning from where we came.
It is so true. My grandfather said the same thing and my grandmother had a pot with notes from my grandfather. But I don't know where it came from either

Your "grandmother had a pot with notes from my grandfather"?! I wonder where that tradition came from, but it is a beautiful one. Thank you, Barb, for your review and for wishing me success in the contest.

An excellent entry for the "What is a Clay Vessel" contest. I always enjoy a story in a poem. You did an excellent job weaving the story of your dads gift of a clay pot he made complete with a love note. Well done.

This is a beautiful tribute to your daddy. It is so sweet that you used a pot that he'd made to carry his ashes to be scattered over the desert. Good luck with your WHAT IS A CLAY VESSEL? contest entry. Well done.
Thank you for sharing...Penny

Thank you, Penny, for your review of "a beautiful tribute to your daddy." I have dozens of my father's pots around my house. the pot I used for his ashes and his pot with the note are the ones most dear to me. Thank you for your review and for wishing me success in the contest.

This is a most emotional piece of poetry and an exceptional piece as entry to the contest or written without the prompt. A great tribute to your daddy.

Thank you, foxangie123. I knew that when I saw the contest listing for What is a Clay Vessel? that I, as the son of a potter, had to say something that would pay tribute to my father and his pottery. I am glad you found "This is a most emotional piece of poetry and an exceptional piece as entry to the contest." Thank you for your review.

Yes, Mary, I really appreciate my father's note in a pot now that he is gone. Whenever I miss him, I read his note. Thank you for your review.
Comment from Gloria ....
There is something so earthy in working with clay and pottery. I love the shells on the top of the lid too. This is really a special gift from a father to his son.
Excellent poem that captures a lifetime of meaning in four stanzas.
Exceptional job with this poet. I wish you all the best in the contest.

Gorgeous and wonderful poem and story. You have brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.
"Perhaps hope trembles like a butterfly
on the bottom of Pandora's Box
after the world's evils escaped."
...what a beautiful image to think of a butterfly left there after all the evils have escaped.
Hope this poem goes far for you.
