Oh dear, you all have been nearly washed away this year! This is a wonderful 5-7-5 poem though, the metaphor easy to understand in light of the devastation caused by all this rain - easy to picture too!

Great shot of rain on the windshield to further reinforce the verse about the rainstorms that are flooding your valley. The saying "When it rains, it pours," is so vivid here, you are really having a tough season. Hugs and best wishes.

Thanks so much for your review.
I quite liked the effect of the rain on the windscreen too.
At last we have some fine days but the cold of winter is biting too.
Guess I can't complain...though it seems to be a feast lr famine with the weather.

Comparing floods to tears for Mother Nature is thought-provoking in and of itself. Instead of seemingly destroying out of malice, what if Mother Nature is acting out of feeling (with the consequence being that her emotions are felt on a much larger scale). After all, Mother Nature can't destroy herself, only others like humans can. But then that's what this comes off to me in terms of potential symbolism, not so much Mother Nature's "fickleness" per say. Good job with your haiku.

Thanks Tia,
I appreciate your review and understanding.
The weather here in Oz is certainly crazy at the moment.
I live in NSW too...just south of the NSW/ QLD border in a beautiful valley.
I agree some sunshine would be lovely.

hi
I just came out of hospital after having surgery on my foot today and a friend of mine assisted me today, driving my car to drop the kids off and picked them up from school and let me know today we are going to get another week of rain and the road this evening was blocked off and i was lucky my friend and i decided to only go to narromine otherwisw we would of been stranded in dubbo. in central west n.s.w we suffer from servere drought, but when we do have rain, we have it for weeks, in one lump sum.
at least i replaced the dryer before my surgery, the hair dryer, drying the kids clothes was driving me nuts and at the time we had no heater as i refussed to use the heater we got from ebay that requires a gas bottle at the back, they are dangerous and aparently band in Australia, not sure how it could of been sold on Australian Ebay.
enjoy your evening
Bye
Regards

Sorry to hear you experience such climate extremes too. As my husband planted winter pasture in the days before the east coast low he worried the soil would be too dry to sprout the seeds. Two days later they lay beneath metres of floodwater. Crazy weather for sure.

G'day Shirley. I hope you have been well during another one of my absences from Fanstory. This is a very powerful little piece mate. Delia and I left Melbourne on the 23rd of May 2016 to return to the Philippines. We just missed all the bad weather and got here and our house went under 5 feet of water the same night. Mother Nature's tears are indeed flowing my friend. More to come all over the world i fear.
Very nicely done and a great, but sad picture as well.
Cheers Fez

As you said in your notes, Mother Nature is fickle. Flooding in the east, heat and fires in the west. Nice personification of Mother Nature in line1. Good use of F-alliteration in lines 2 & 3.
