Very funny but also probably true. When I was in college I attended a seminar on healthy relations. The presenter asked for a show of hands by everyone who's parents never argued. Several hands went up.
The presenter said I have to tell you they had a very sick relationship.

Ha! Well, it may be true, but arguing all the time isn't a healthy sign, either. Especially when it's all coming from one side. Thanks for checking it out. Craig

This was one I missed, long ago; Read through it, and thought... oh my, my husband and I must be madly in love, the way we argue. : ) About everything not important. About if he should eat the popsicles in the freezer, how much salt is needed in the guacamole, where to go for dinner... If our mouths are moving, it's likely we are in the middle of expressing our love.
By the end of this work, I appreciated that one spouse asks for something... gets it, and then gets upset.

It was just a bit of fun for a potlach challenge, and yes, it was a long time ago! Thanks for going back to check it out though. Arguing is not all that bad, if it's shared, I think. It's when one side is always the one arguing that the excrement contacts the air-circulating device - well, at least that's my experience :)

Hahahaha...women. You can't live with 'em, and you certainly can't bludgeon them to death with an ax handle. It's far too bloody. No, poison is most definitely the answer.
Great dialogue only for the potlatch prose challenge, Craig. What made this so funny to me is that I have had more than one conversation like this with my ex-wife while we were still married. I can't say why she was so scared of me, not exactly. I never laid a hand on one hair on her head in 22 years of marriage. Oh, don't think for one moment that I wasn't tempted to. I even made reference to the aforementioned ax handle thingy. That could be why we are no longewr married.
Good work, Craig!

I was hooked from the opening passages, Craig. The ole "do you love me?" question. Like there is more than one way to answer that question. You took it to unexpected, and insightful levels. Definitely an element of truth to the concept that the healthiest relationships are the ones in which both occasionally air their grievances. The topper was your kicker ending. Great job, Craig.

Thanks so much Bill, for the great review. It was fun, and not nearly as traumatic an experience as I thought it might be. Craig

You're quite welcome, Craig. I had fun with the challenge, too.

Ha Ha, an argument about arguing, lol. brilliant idea. It's got to be the most pointless row ever, but I bet there's people out there who have it. Nice one, funny, with a great bombshell at the end.

Hi Craig
I haven't read the challenge prompt for this as I'm still scurrying to earn enough to post my potlatch which was complete over twenty four hours ago. :(
I'm not sure if humour fiction was the challenge or just your own choice of genre. You succeeded either way. Most entertaining and not a flaw in the dialogue that I could spot. You managed to maintain the flow and hold interest and chuckles all the way through. I really needed a good laugh, and so pleased it was you. I didn't expect the ending, so you gave me a thrill, even at the last bite. I'm no dialogue expert (as far as writing it myself), but I do know when it is exciting and fun. Extremely well done and fabulous for the challenge. I wish I could join this group, I have enough trouble with time constraints, to even try. :)) Great writing. I enjoyed VERY MUCH!! Hugs - Lovi xoxo

Thanks, Lovi, for your wonderful and supportive comments.
The brief was to write a 200 word dialogue-only piece about two people arguing over something trivial. Not necessarily humour.
I'm (re)discovering there's far more important and satisfying pursuits as well, so this will be my first and last entry in the prose challenge.
Thanks again!
Craig

If there's one thing I hate, it's people who want to argue about the weather! Well, she got what she asked for, in fine style. Once Brian learned to say no, he was all about it!
Nice job, Craig,

Comment from Gloria ....
Ha, I laughed all the way through this one, Craig. It has been said that the couple that argues together, stays together and I should say you have that maxim out extremely well in this dialogue only piece.
The resolution of asking for a divorce is perfectly ironic.
Terrific job.

Thanks, Gloria, for the lovely comments :) It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be, and not a ghost or goblin in sight lol
Comment from Mabaker
Oh yeah very clever. To write a story in all dialect is one hard task. I've tried it, but I end up putting a 'he said she answered' in somewhere. But you nailed it first go. Great little conversation. It was so well written I found myself reading it again to see how you did it for future reference. Regards Mabaker

Thank you for the lovely comments, MaBaker. I think it's possible to get away with the dialogue only for a couple of hundred words, I wouldn't like to try it on anything much longer :)
