You did a good job tying all of the stanzas together into the whole of your message. Within each stanza you encapsulated it with various metaphors and vivid imagery. This is my favorite part. "Worm to face mongoose thinking rat,
drop of hat-trap to see an opponent, becoming prey the hunter who sat". I am assuming the worm is a snake". Thank you for sharing

Ah, yes, the choices we make that change our lives. Sometimes in a big way and sometimes in a small way but the choices are indeed made. There's obviously a lot of analogy going on here. My tired brain wasn't following all of them but I did find these lines clever:
A spade meets a diamond to play,
words points in distraction to way,
their crossed say intents in card-flip.
In these lines, is there a typo? Did you mean to say 'a solid bone goes down the drain.' here?
Chance, its lone odds against you,
money a lost tone by an investment,
a solid bone (gones) down the drain.
All the best,
Jan

This speaks about odds of a win or a lost game to a gambler and the fruition thought thereby; well written, well done. B A CHANGE INSPIRER-WRITER --DR ALCREATOR

I liked this: you demonstrated a depth and versatility that I haven't noticed in your other offerings. I will repeat myself here, but you are a poet with an understanding of a variety of subjects.

Gamble your life away. Or save it all for a rainy day. The temptation is at every corner in the USA. Lotto Lotto Lotto...nobody thinks of the odds as too great, yet everyone plays.

A poem that makes you think all the way through. I am a card player and when I play it is never for fun and like a mongoose after its prey, you strike without malice and continue the game. The analogies cross over to business or relationships. If a poem makes you ponder then you did your job.
