Here is another one up for interpretation so I will just go with what I feel from it...
He seems to feel victorious in his challenge against another male? But in his victory he must show compassion (cowboy honor) because she failed to protect by default...thinking the man did not need her protection...I know ..rambling..smile..He seeks to capture her..la vie d'une rose...by showing her he is "still in the saddle"...after all this time...Bruce sings country? Wow...a long time since I have listened...The style and rhymes are as good as ever...Hopefully, I did not destroy the intended meaning...

well....its apparent you weren't blessed with the gift of interpretation...but you got the tongue talking down pat. Nope...way off once again....maybe next time...good luck Michael
-

Right..no reason to annoy you with my interpretations...I have others to annoy...smile
It's just that sometimes I have this aha moment and then you say..sorry..not what I am
thinking..go away...so I will...bye

Reconciled. I LOVE cowboy poetry. In my opinion there should be lots more of it!
The only true criticism I have is (I find out as I read it all the way through) a typo in
Line 1. But I see in the last line "than" and on the album "than"--so we're good.
Easy change. I do particularly like the cowboy vernacular--esp. like the "rode-hard" lines. About 4 mos. ago I found my new favorite author: Cormac McCarthy, but when I got through (just barely) the story of the she-wolf, I haven't been able to pick up another book of his. But back to your work--keep it up! It's terrific and we need it to balance out the site. GoodHearted Woman (Waylon & Willie & The Boys) LOL

Hi Michael,
I really enjoyed reading this poem. You did a great job in writing it. Some of your poetry I don't understand so I don't know how to write things for it. Besides that I'm getting very forgetful. Such is life for this old lady. LOL You'll realize what I mean when you get in your seventies.
Love you, Mom Kat
