Thanks again, Cookie. Yes, it can be cruel. We have had 2 funerals this week - guess that happens when we get older. But often I am happy , if the person is suffering too much. We can't be selfish and wish them to stay. Thanks again, and warmest regards, Marijke :o)

Such a sad and moving poem, Marijke. Is it the woman you told me about? I don't hope so. We all have our limits and how much can we take?
We all love our beloved ones, but when there is no way out and suffer so much,
we have to accept their wish You don't want to see your beloved one suffer till the bitter end. Impressing poem, so well expressed. Love and hugs Fietje xxxx

Hi Marijke!
I wrote my first Villanelle this month and loved it! Yours is written in perfect form and your refrain lines really propel this piece down the page. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It is always hard when people are in pain and there are no words for comfort.
Excellent work on this poem!

A moving poem about a real life friendship. So sorry to hear of her pain. The words you've chosen and the form convey the intended feeling superbly. Well done.

Hi Marijke. Your Villanelle is outstanding. Wonderful writing combined with an important topic. You have combined your words with a brightly colored presentation set in a dark background. I think that says a lot. A bright light is going dim, but in it she will achieve peace. I will say a prayer. God bless you both. You have handled a sensitive topic very well with this excellent write. Marilyn

Hi, Markijke
= Such a lovely dedication to your friend.
= In the summer of 2014, we lost SIX family members to cancer.
= It is not an easy or pleasant road these lovely people are forced to walk.
= Blessings and prayers to your friend, and all concerned, as well as you.

Marijke,
I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's condition.
Your Villanelle conveys her thoughts and your
experience in your final good-bye so well.
Your repeating line with the image of closing
the door is effective and of course a perfect
match to your stunning artwork choice. It
is also represents a meaningful thought about closure.
Your other repeating line is a strong painful song.
"No more treatments to explore" seemed to also
stand out to me.

Sorry for your friends illness. The picture is fitting. I thought this might be to close the refrigerator door--you know how it gets left open a lot.
Sorry I can't say anymore.
