Hi Dear,
I'm sorry for no following your full journey this month! I'm taking a quick look at your work now, and this very much spoke to me! That heartbreaking fence is pulled up in my country of origin and I couldn't agree more! But the propaganda likes to call these people terrorists to justify their rejection :(!
Thank you for speaking up!

Your use of the Minute poem form for this tragic subject is very effective, since it propels your words forward, just the the refugees are forced to forge forward for a new life, especially for their children. Your title and picture selection are perfect reinforcements for your theme. Best wishes in the contest- Joan

It is a heartbreaking tragedy Fiona. . .as if the world hasn't
hammered them with enough devastation - barbed wire
has to be introduced into the equation!
Excellent pairing go poetry and visual art!

There are millions of refugees around the world, so many of them children. Such a tragic state of affairs. I wish we could learn to get along and be kind and loving, but it only seems to get worse~Debbie

Hi Fiona:)
I think barbed wire is a barbaric way to prevent escape or block entry. It is especially cruel as it cuts and tears at flesh as people free the terror of refugee camp in ways you describe.
Just this morning on TV'S Animal World, I watched five young men work to free a 10-point buck that had escaped hunters, only to become entangled, The men released the huge deer, now covered with cuts and bruises, I hope he will join his herd for another season,
Love and Irish Hugs for good luck in the contest.

Wow, Roger, thank you so much for this very long string of stars. Yes, barbed wire, cruelty, homeless, how much can people bear? I can't even begin to imagine, it does my heart in. Thanks for your comments and observations, Roger. Warmest regards, my friend, from your Aussie pal, Marijke :o)

Yes my heart breaks too, Marijke and the fact it becomes so difficult because the border control becomes heavier. There must be a solution somehow.
Very well written this minute poem. Good luck in the contest. Fietje xxxxx

Great photo that complements your poem perfectly. It is a very well written Minute poem, strong contender for the contest. I reckon we all care about the refugees, certainly their children. No mistakes at all. It is so nice that you're back on line.
