Really enjoyed this political flash sci-fi... I can't tell you how many times I've thought about enforced peace... in which the only way people could live together in peace was if there was some magical way where all weapons would be taken away. And I thought to myself, in one of these 'how could it be done' ponderings, if all weapons were taken away before they could become a weapon... and then the image in my mind, a bunch of men without hands and feet, because in a world with no 'weapons', anything is a weapon. Hence why I imagined there would be some who would have to lose their fists and feets and probably even their tongues, because mankind is good at using weapons at hand.
"I mean(,) sir, respectfully, that we can't get them in the air,"
(suggest adding this as the addressment comma.
The multi - perspectives of this moment did a really nice job of building curiosity and that did well for the effect of the end of the story) Good flash ends with a aha! and I think this did that here. And the chilling end, with the kremlin, and knowing there aren't any aliens to take away our naughty toys.

Thanks, Turtle. I think you're right, even if all our toys were taken away, we'd find a way. Maybe the aliens should just use the death ray? Really appreciate you checking out my story, I hope you're feeling better. Craig

This is so amazing, Craig! Enforced peace...come ON Aliens, we need your little green selves here NOW!! Seriously...I love this story and the implications. Things I see on the news daily, hourly, are so upsetting. Unfortunately, humankind is inherently violent. Deliberate cruelty is something that we don't see in the animal kingdom, so what went wrong in our neural networks? Clearly, "divine" intervention is not going to help us, or it would have sprung into action long ago. We need the aliens.
Love this - another winner!

Yes, I'm afraid alien intervention may be our only hope Carol. Like you, I often wonder where things went wrong that our "survival" instinct somehow includes this propensity to wipe ourselves (and every other species) out. Many thanks for the lovely review. Craig :)

You have kept me intertained with your well constructed short story. The characters are very believable and the story line moves very smoothly.

Very interesting and thought provoking. Does Nothing Happened mean that we did blow up the world and there is nothing left? Or did it mean it didn't work. Great Question here.

It is a nice little story, but I'm not sure I would call it Political flash fiction. There isn't much politics in it. But what you have still good writing.

I thought I'd try to offer something different. Some people won't see it as political, but that's ok too. Thanks for reviewing - Craig.

This is a most timely post. I like the twist using the Hebrew message as it is in line with the thinking among some sects that a New Jerusalem will herald a time of peace.
I thought this was very well written. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks, Bev, for the great comments and the good wishes. You know, I'd heard that theory you mentioned a very long time ago, but it didn't enter my thinking at the the time of writing. Much appreciated - Craig.

Well, I watch a lot of Apocolypse type specials. Seems like that figures prominently.
You're welcome!

Creative, intelligent and thought-provoking. Brilliant story, clever and original entry for the contest. Way to go, aliens. Good luck in the contest. P.S how did your exam go?

Thank you so much for the wonderful rating, Sarkems! Your comments have made my morning. As for the exam - the less said the better I won't officially know the result until near the end of the month, but I don't think there's a lot of doubt as to what it will be - grrrrr.

Hi Craig,
I'm quite sure this will be a unique entry for this political flash fiction contest. You've shown a great deal of imagination in how the aliens chose to communicate and solve the problems of the world. I'm most amused at the fact the boys of our future have traded in their decoder rings for a "Decode It" app on their phones.
Good luck in the contest!

Hi Craig,
A very good piece here. One of the most intelligent I have read in regard to this competition. Well thought out, and amusing too.
but it's not alien. It's Hebrew! - need closing speech marks here.
(I'll not get started on the life of Ghandi and his short-comings here).
All the best

Hi Craig, absolutely loved this wonderful tale of peace throughout the world, wouldn't it be brilliant if it were true and could really happen my friend.
