Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

In the forties and fifties, I pretty much was left on my own because my disease was not recognize as a disease. In the beginning of the sixties, An Orthopedic Surgeon told me I was one of thirteen known cases and he could correct the situation. He made it worse. In the latter part of the decade, I found a German Doctor who corrected the first surgery and on the second surgery started me on the road of success. Your post is very well written with a smooth flow of words.

Thanks mate. Glad to be back writing again. Something gave me the idea it was time to write about this. Louise had an op when she was seven to tighten her hamstrings at the back of her knees. She was the guinea pig. They don't do it anymore and it has caused her all sorts of problems.

It is good to have a social group where everyone have some disablement to just have fun and an enjoyable time with friends. It is good to encourage others to do anything to improve muscles

Splash: keep writing, Sankey. The stories seem so fun, like you had fun together. Some dressed up and some just had fun. Share these stories. Glad you had these friends and photos. flylikeaneagle

What an absolutely wonderful idea to help. I am curious as to why it disbanded when it was such a wonderful way to help .
Story was interesting and quite a wonderful read.
I don't see any problems.

Yeah I know the lady who was the physiotherapist (Pat) moved back to New Zealand so that could have been one of the reasons it stopped. Thanks for the lovely review.

This was a nice summary of the group, SPLASH. The photos are an extra incentive to attract viewers to read on about this special group which provided, it seems, a healthy outlet for those handicapped to achieve goals and just have fun. Of course, they're those type of parents, like John, who possibly, thought if his son, Geoff, trained hard or long enough, he would return like he once was, and in denial that his son did change, and, in turn, finding it so difficult to accept his son's new challenges. Probably, even harder than Geoff.

Oh, Laurel and Hardy, still good entertainment and one of my favorite comedy twosomes. And you and Louise did a good job of trying to appear as them.

Thanks for Sharing, I enjoyed the read, and Many Blessings to you and Louise.

I am rally impressed with the goals and organization of this group :-)
Both in terms of physical rehabilitation or maintenance AND in terms
of the emotional and socializing benefits :-)

It's funny how a group like this can "fade away". . .sometimes I think
it is because the bonds are so special, as members are removed one
by one, there comes a time when the "magic" can't be duplicated.

I'm glad you were able to participate (and meet your future wife)
there - it sounds like you have taken a wonderful set of memories
from the experience :-)

Hi friend. Thanks for the review. I actually met my wife at work through another group I started for hearing impaired Staff. This was just another of her side activities. If you have not read my autobiography I may get it out for some more reviewing soon. It is still unpublished and needing some more work in places. Look for The Little Dog That Wouldn't Let Go sub title God Never lets Go. Sorry no rewards on it atm but if you look at later chapters you will meet my sweetheart there.

This sounds like an excellent organization, and too bad it has ceased to exist. Maybe there are similar groups that have taken its place. You raise an interesting question about how much pressure family should place on a handicapped relative. If they don't encourage him or her to try to do that exercise, that might make that individual become lax and become even weaker. Too much pressure, on the other hand, could also be bad. The best thing would be to follow the doctor's and therapist's advice as to how much is optimal for the patient. Very interesting, and very clearly and engagingly presented. judi

A very nice short story about your social group. We have a group just like this that meets monday and wednesdays. It is a lot of fun for us. Well written.
