This was a clever name of a water therapy group. It is very beneficial for a lot of health problems. I agree that parents in over-drive with therapy for the children, are dealing with personal guilt that they shouldn't be taking on anyway. But I also understand how consistent encouragement is important.

I was thinking about a swimming movie actress once famous here in America Easter Williams. She was a victim of polio when a young girl but swam beautifully. Also very attractive. Sorry splash is no longer. Sounds like a great ministry.

Hey Geoff,
This is a great story from your past and I am so pleased you decided to write it and share it with us here.
A suggestion, and I think you do it to preserve privacy, but instead of using single letters for someone's name, make one up M. could be Marty... A.M. Andy Mason it just remains more personal with a name.

Also here, you are writing this story as yourself so this would be "My father, John not Geoff's father, John ... you switched to third person here.
" ...Geoff's father, John, was quite hard on Geoff with his hemiplegic ..."

One thing I would also suggest is tell us what "hemiplegic condition" is. You are sharing our experience with friends and we want a better understanding of you and this condition, mate.

Ron

Hi mate some good suggestions. The Geoff I speak of who was hemiplegic is NOT me. Geoff was one of the SPLASH participants. Good suggestion of explanation of hemiplegia. WIll work on it thanks for coming by.

This is a wonderful story and sounds like such a fun group. The reader feels happy while reading about this unique group. I love swimming and would have been happy to help this group of people. I also enjoyed reading about all the fun you had and the pics are great.

Thanks friend. Sadly the lady (pat) who was the instructor and physiotherapist moved to another country and they had no one to carry it on. We married and moved away anyway.

I am sorry Splash dissolved. I am sure it is greatly needed, Thank you for sharing.

Geoff's father John was quite hard on Geoff with his hemiplegic condition resulting from a car accident. (comma needed after father some would say after John too, but I am not sure.)

Thanks friend appreciate your review will fix that. I had capital on Hemiplegic and was told not needed so go figure.
reply by the author on 02-Apr-2016
I added commas in both places thanks.

It being a first run, well, not sure if I see a need for a 2nd draft. This has a professional feel with what appears to be careful editing.

I say run with it!

Such a beautiful story about this wonderful group. I am so happy you found a wonderful woman. It is sad that the group is no longer there. I think the group was an amazing idea.

thanks new friend. Yeah the lady (Pat) who was the physiotherapist and teacher, moved to another country and they could not find anyone else to replace her. People moved on, we got married and moved away of course. There is more on us in my yet unpublished autobiography if interested. Look for 'The Little Dog That Wouldn't let Go" subtitled "God Never Lets Go" I intend to do some more work on it and put it up for more looks soon if you like.

Hi there,

This is a well written piece on a group that obviously did a lot of good work. The problem with these groups is under-funding or lack of volunteers. Hydrotherapy is invaluable too. I had a lot when I blew my knee out.

He was also Hemiplegic - I would use a lower case 'h' here.

Hi mate thanks for the correction. Good of you to come along. I think the main reason it closed down was the Teacher/ physiotherapist moved to New Zealand. There was no one else to replace her.

    Fixed that error thanks.

Hydrotherapy helped me to recover after a fractured hip. I have MS as well. It was wonderful while it lasted. This is a great story of inspiration for others. Giddy

Thanks new friend. Sadly we have had to give Hydrotherapy away these days. My wife needs assistance in and out of the pool and the help takes too long so she sits waiting already showered in a breeze, getting a chill. We miss it for sure.
