Hello Linda, a poem of truth, albeit sad and funny at the same time. As I read your poem, I felt as if you were reciting my life as well. There's a lot of what's in this poem going around. Your poem reads and flows well and has good humor within. If we can't laugh at some of this stuff, we will only cry. Of special note:
It's hard to make a comeback when you've not been anywhere
And if the buck stops here then why am I so broke?
(It looks going no where is the fashion-trend for the foreseeable future.)
And:
This rut that I am trapped in is much deeper than the grave
So they won't have to move me when I die.
(Ditto on that for me.)
Good rhyming. Well-chosen artwork. Excellent writing. This poem made me laugh, and that meant as a compliment.

It sounds like its meant to be in a musical play! I love this poem. The rhythm is very good, and it sticks to the subject while it reveals the point. (Some poems go everywhere, and their point is too ambiguous.) Point being you never had a chance, lol. I know the feeling. Living conveniently in one's own grave. I can see all kinds of imagery, how easily this could make a cute musical act with all sorts of colorful props- if even using really artistic puppets. Despite the down-on-luck imagery it was very uplifting. Blessings to ya!

Linda, this is fun sarcasm. Your rhyme and meter is spot on and the poem reads and flows well. You hit on many sayings and took them a different direction than people usually do. Those were well done and not cheesy as they would be if I tried to do what you did! The poem is like a nice dessert. You knew it would be good, but it was so good and rich that you had to have a second helping, or third! The sarcasm mixed with plays on words and infused with humor was a treat within a treat!

This is a fun satirical look on life rhyming poem. It made me laugh and I can empathise with a few of the lines. My favourite is 'I started out with nothing and I still have most of that.' I think I have come to realise that wasn't meant to be rich haha. But money isn't everything. Thank you for sharing this. :) xx
