I was fascinated by this. I'm astonished that anyone still knows how to make corned beef, beyond opening a tin.

Typos/SPAGs. (Square brackets indicate suggested deletions, and asterisks, suggested insertions):

'I could [literally] eat past*a* three hundred and sixty-three days a year' ('literally' doesn't add any meaning to this sentence).

'and those carrots scattered about.' (Insert a blank line after this to mark the new paragraph).

We are not having corned beef and cabbage so go ahead and have my serving. I don't know if I've ever had it. I've probably had everything separate so I'm sure I'd like it. Great job friend and enjoy you meal

I am Scottish with a smidgen of Irish thrown in. corned beef and cabbage has always been a dish served on St. Patricks Day. There are a few places here in Mazatlan that will be serving it, but considering the only spices they have are salt and a dozen different types of peppers, I am curious as to how it will taste. Maybe the best would be to make my own and just use salt and regular pepper for spices. I thoroughly enjoyed this and especially liked your humorous ending. Keep up with the great work.

Yep, I have mine in the fridge ready to go. It wouldn't be St. Patrick's Day without it. I think I'll skip the green beer though. Perhaps lime Koolaid this year. It's really good with a little lime sherbet floating in it. Well written, my friend~Debbie

Well, this sure made my mouth water and get me excited for Thursday's CB&C dinner...and of course the Guinness. I Always make Irish soda bread to go with the meal. You describe your Mama's skills wonderfully. Have a wonderful St. Paddy's Day and enjoy your meal and stout. A few things to look at...

The enamored St. Patrick(')s Day meal of corned beef, cabbage and potatoes

A five(-)pound corned beef and two heads of cabbage. In recent years, cabbage typically has(had) been on sales(sale) for the holiday

Later in the week(,) I'll pick up my Guinness four-pack, in bottles.

Although my heritage is Italian and I could literally eat past(a) three hundred and sixty-three(four??) days a year, I must keep that final day for corned beef and cabbage.

aluminum stock pot(stockpot) with those seasonings on the stove for hours. Before I left for school(,) she would be at the kitchen counter

With one final step remaining(,) she'd add the white potatoes.

(Need a line space between this and the previous sentence)There would be a dish of spicy mustard for

She did a great job with this Irish meal for being a full(-)blooded Italian,

Years later(,) our three children did as well. Our daughter, who lives in Maryland(,) makes a

Yummm... You got my mouth watering, John. I love it too, tho I'm far from being Irish. Ukranian, actually. But I'm used to eating it and cooking it, so we'll enjoy a dinner like yours. My daughter is coming for a week's visit, and she can help us eat it. :)

This is spooky, I just spent all morning preparing 25 pounds of corned beef for a big crowd tomorrow. I will boil the cabbage potatoes and carrots tomorrow.

There definitely is something to the premise, "Everyone's Irish on St. Paddy's Day"!
I enjoyed reading about your St. Patrick's Day dinner. I'm getting hungry for it now. I am Irish and we are having the neighbors over for dinner this year for St. Patrick's Day corned beef and cabbage. Our children are grown and gone and it's more fun to cook this meal for a crowd.

Don't forget the Guinness. Actually I already started today by having a couple this afternoon.
    Thank you Janet. Enjoy!!

Oh I won't forget the Guinness. But I like my Irish coffee or some Bailey's Irish Cream too. At this rate St. Paddy's Day may have to be a week long celebration. Lol💚🍀🍀💚

Hey John,
Love your story about your mom's cooking and family traditions. My mouth was watering as you described the cabbage and corn beef.
I agree that "Everyone is Irish on St. Paddy's Day! :-)
I think you left an "A" off the end of pasta?

John, I share your passion for corned beef and cabbage--but more. As we all know, the only time corned beef goes on sale is the lead up to St Paddy's day. So I buy early and often. I've already cooked and eaten two briskets, and have three more tucked away in the freezer to enjoy later in the year. I suggest you do something similar. Buy when it's cheap, enjoy whenever you feel like it.
Potatoes, carrots, and cabbage are easy to come by.

Just knowing I have some corned beef sitting in the freezer gives me something to look forward to. Hell, CB&C needn't be a once a year treat.

Damn! Now I'm hungry again.

Peace, Lee
