Late Bloomer,
This poem is short and to the point. I like its brevity and hard hitting statements about the good and bad reflected in the power of love. It starts with a general statement about love and then touches on the intimacy of a personal love and ends with a warning about love's darker side. Well done.
Love and romance are two of my favorite subjects to write about in my poetry. But love can have a dark side and that is an areas I too have explored in my writing.
All the best.

Hello BermyBye50, Thank you for your great review and for sharing your thoughts. I do like to write about the valleys, hills, and peaks of love, romance, and personal relations ... some fantasy, some truth, but most of them have a little of each. Thank you for stopping by my writing pad. LateBloomer

Latebloomer, This is a very good refection on love. We love inspire of faults, deeds, and even when it is not good for us. You said so much in few words. Seeing the goodness and gladness but also the darkness of the heart and yet you can't help but love. Sometimes loving someone like this destroy who we are. Thank you for sharing this it is sad, true and demonstrates the human condition of love. Kat

Very beautiful piece of work and emotional excerpt of someone very genuine. Being you :). The power to be able to love someone even though they aren't the greatest person on the inside, not just in love and intimacy but in human nature as well. LOVE THE IMAGE TOO. Thanks for sharing.

I like the simplicity of this. Using a short form pretty much demands it -- hence all the haiku. But you've clearly learned how to use it well to get down to the heart of what you mean.

This was a well-thought out poem but the structure is bipolar. There's no cohesion in the form. If your aim was to shorten the sentences to the point where it only gets to one word then there needs to be a identifiable pattern in your descent. There is none but I think you know this and we both know you're capable of saying such a profound message with more structure.

I admired your observation about the contradictions involved in love. Your short verse is quite compelling, and the artwork reinforces the notion of "power" well. Cheers- Joan

I honk this is a superb piece of writing and it would be a six if I had them left to give. This is spectacular as you captured the good and bad. Good ticket here.

Your dynamic presentation emphasizes the impact of your words. I do think this poem is an observation of life and human behavior, but not necessarily love. We may call it love because it is so intense--but if it hurts the object--is it really love--obsession maybe. I don't know. I think love in its pure essence is just plain loving. Marilyn

Hello BeasPeas, Thank you for your wonderful review and for your thought-provoking comments. When I wrote this poem, I was thinking about high-profile people, but the same could be said for ordinary folks, and what I was thinking about is ... e.g. A couple who have everything and anything that money can buy and both a treated very well within the relationship; however, one of the parties in their day-to-day life is not a very nice person at all (outside of home/relationship) and maybe even more than bad -- evil/criminal. Think white collar crime as just one example--someone who defrauds people out millions or think a drug King or child molester or dirty cop; and yet is still loved by their spouse/partner ... even though he/she knows how bad/evil their spouse/partner is in the outside world. My after-thought of my own poem was the inspiration ... Why? Many choose to stay, and I don't think the reason is always because of money, fame, or fear. They stay because they choose to stay ... and thus, came ... the power and destruction of love. Just sharing my inner-thoughts since I'm sure most of my reviews have been received. Beas, I thank you so much for your generous review and for sharing your thoughts ... the shared thoughts mean the most to me. Sincerely, LateBloomer

Your reply to my reply is interesting. I know there are some who will continue to stay with a partner in the name of love no matter what they do. Loyalty is a powerful trait. Falls into the category of I may not love what you do, but I love YOU. That's why parents, especially, stand by their children no matter what.
