Fortunately or unfortunately Possum's gotta eat too, they have been around since the dinosaurs and I suppose they will be around a chompin long after we are gone. Fun poem.

A funny but a disturbing ABC poem about possums mutilating your garden,
"Fruit trees hacked" The criteria was met and it is an enjoyable read.

You have captured the frustration of being outwitted by an animal. It sounds like the possum visits your garden at will and helps himself no matter what you do. We had a raccoon that made himself in charge. Your message is delivered with humor and the fact that the form required you to choose words based on letters adds to your accomplishment because the poem flows smoothly. well done

This is a delightful captured moment of a possum pounding by.

Your use of alliteration and internal rhymes works well in advancing the motions and sounds.

I especially like the rousing sleepers and fruits trees. Your images are very clear and quite delightful even though those rodents are causing incredible havoc.

Just a couple of nits in the author notes with the strange code.

Best wishes to you in the contest.

This is a good one.

Gloria

Thank you for your comments. "nits" Are you talking about my explanation of why I used "hacking".
Hacking can mean getting past computer protection devices or turning something into little pieces. The possums do both ie get to the plants inspite of netting and other plants which are supposed to repel them because of the smell.

Great piece, I can visualize that darn possum and the devastation he/she leaves behind! I can also see the reader outside, disrupted from a serene slumber, only to find an unwelcome surprise. Luckily the tomatoes remain untainted.... you can still make a tasty salad tomorrow hehe.
Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for reading it. We are just starting to eat one or two. There are enough for both of us now as long as I pick them green. Previously they were eating them while they were too green to pick.

thank you for this fun piece of the day in the life of a possum. Man they can be nosier that a fire truck when they get going and yep they often keep me awake. I love your use of this form and think you have a good entry here.

Good luck

Edit you author's notes. Evil Eddy was at work on them.

Possums pounding bounding by ... is a myth. possums have trouble keeping up with sloths ... speed is not their strong suit.

Thank you for your comments. They jump from roof to roof in our back yard and sound like they have boots on. Brush tail possums are a lot bigger and noisier than the cute little ring-tailed ones that waddle along the wires.

Very well done. Good luck in the ABC poetry contest. I just mentioned in a different reading that we lost our barn to a fire. Now we have a opossum living under our house. He really likes cat food. I live in the country. Opossums can be a real problem. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for reading. We have cute little ring-tailed possums and big brush tailed ones. The brushies are the noisy ones. Sorry about your barn. What's an opossum look like?

We don't have possums in our country, and thank goodness too, from the sound of your poem and authors notes! That must be so annoying to see you fruit trees ruined just like that. Excellent ABC contest entry, good luck! :) Sandra xsx

Thanks Sandra. They are really cute. Just forget trying to grow fruit trees or vegies and leave that to the farmers. The suburbs are full of them now that we have larger established trees for them to hide in during the day.
