This is so fitting for a country western song from the title to the very end. The line that is most heart breaking is "there's no love left inside your wedding band". Wow Brett! This is awesome.

The fact that the poem is written in Free Style does not detract from the power of the ideas and emotions it contains. It was really enjoyable to read something that was prepared to be different and yet still has the level of technical proficiency found in a sonnet or another accepted form. The line 'You're in love with a memory' is especially resonant and we are all guilty of that from time to time. Thank you for an enjoyable read.

"I don't need another barroom either." I love your freestyle way of writing, its very authentic, almost effortless. Although it is anything but, something as an aspiring poet I try, but often failed to do. There is is so much in this poem that I can relate to: the time lspent brooding and yearnign for a lost love, holding on to love that is gone, feeling the pain of love but still holding strong. Being "in love with a memory" that resonates with me. Love, love your work. Keep it up!

What a sad statement "There's no love left inside your wedding band." We take a vow that our love will last forever. However, we must grow together or we will grow apart. The Lord has blessed me with sixty-three wonderful years. I married my childhood sweetheart so he's always been the one. Very well written poem on wanting a new relationship.

I loved this piece. Repetition of the first stanza at the end worked well for this poem. "you are in love with a memory, you can't get off your mind", beautiful... there could be reasons for separation, but the memories never die.
