This is a clever use of the sonnet form. The first two stanzas decrying war and then, without the word "but" being used the third stanza is in itself one big but, swinging round decrying all the bullies and championing the idea of defense. Not so much a volta as a complete somersault.

"Perpetrating loss, revenge and age" dealing with war. Poet condemns war as causing Thousands in loss of lives, properties and emotional and mental turmoil. Author states no more need for wars. liberty justice

Thank you Liberty. Not exactly right. Author wishes no more need for war, but realized a need to defend.

This is definitely something anyone fimilar with Shakespeare could create. I definitely could not come up with it. I like how it seems to incorporate modern challenges, though that might just be how I'm reading it. Well done.

I like this. And NO it will never cease,. Life is problematic. But people are what makes it that way. You alluded to that in this piece. It is simply written but gives you a clear and direct narrative. Nice job!

Treischel,
That is your photograph. I would have loved to know if it was a reenactment for a local event. We have many of them around where I live. I love your Shakespearian poem. I too ponder if these conflicts will ever cease. Best wishes in the contest.
Blessings,
Darlene

What a great example of a sonnet which is a pleasure to read. You capture both the essence of war and the consequences really well with the descriptive, language you chose.

I firmly believe there's only one way humans would cease their warlike machinations, if somehow peace and goodwill or a better title, LOVE, came into the equation, or "do unto others" one can sat till we're blue in the face, doesn't seem to make any difference! But it can only be won by individuals, one by one coming to the realisation. I would ban patriotic nationalism for a start, it only promotes pride and unrealistic tribal opposition, and untrue theories about other nations "bad"attributes. Sorry I was going on a tangent. It's the manifold darkness in men's souls. Oh for a little light Lord. Well done, beautifully composed, a great entry in this sonnet competition, even metered, eloquently worded, ababcdcdefefgg rhyming, well done, good luck, blessings, Roy

Human make war since early times, it seem history keep on repeating itself when making war the reasons just get more and more evil. The ones who suffer most is the innocent and the ones who only wants peace.

Good entry in the contest. You do need to check the second line the first word.
War is a terrible thing, but as long as we are on this planet there will be wars and rumors of war. Patricia
