I relished your stretching your wings with this poem's form. Your variety of font size and color along with the use of sounds is very effective. Cheers and have a peaceful, holiday weekend- Joan

Thank you Joan. This really is my first attempt to write a cryptic free verse like ravenblack, or glasstruth, write. I appreciate your insight. It is not my usual.

Yours was not as "cryptic" as some of theirs, which I appreciated. Smiles- Joan

Life is really crazy, in a well ordered society you'd be forgiven for thinking facilities would run better, that television reflect some sort of balance, although human beings are very voyeuristic I'm afraid, copy sells, well done, good scribing, HNY, Blessings, Roy

Well said. Video games have changed so much these days. It scares me what is considered OK for children to see and to play themselves. I like the way you set it up with different colors and sizes, etc., it really emphasized the words. Thank you for sharing this.

I love the style of your poem it's very well thought out. Video games have certainly moved on the ones now have very realistic features. I am not a gamer myself, but I did used to enjoy Pac man

Thank you chcbeck. Things have certainly gotten more graphic.

Hi there,
The duality in this piece is very well realised. the simplicity of an earlier age when everything wasn't instantaneous and graphic coupled with today's society. When did things get so far. desensitised, commonplace, real.
Great piece.

Ah! I don't get involved much with video games but I can remember the ping-pong thing from the early days of home computers back in the nineteen eighties. Are they still extant?
Then we come to the serious part of your poem.
For a long time educationalists (as an ex-teacher can I count myself among them?) have worried that news items and fiction given similar visual treatment can become blurred in the minds of the young and impressionable. Nowadays with computer graphics having become so lifelike the danger has extended to video games.
A news item featuring an islamist beheading is thankfully still a rare event, but a computer game featuring similar (though not necessarily islamist) can be replayed thousands of times. Such "punishment" becomes the norm in the minds of the young and/or impressionable.
We live in dangerous times and your poem brings this out so well. Bring back the ping-pong I say.

The message here is poignant. The video games are so very graphic and the kids are seeing blood and gore and become insensitive to death. , so they get to thinking it is okay to kill. If I was a parent today I would do my best to shield my children from these things. Patricia

Video games are so realistic these days, you totally lost track of reality while busy playing them. I don't play much myself, but I always watch my children, and look at their reactions while they are playing nothing else matters.
