LOL Stacia!
Your theme for the 2-4-2 contest is so excellent and
your poem precious! I never thought about paper in
that way, but I do like white blank space to inspire
writing...so...we may be on the same page:)
I hope your poem is seriously considered as a winner.
Hoping your New Year Is Bright!

Thanks so much for the reading and review, Linda! Much appreciated. Yes, I think most writers have a special relationship with paper--it is a major tool of our craft, after all, and an art form in itself.
Thank you again for stopping by:)
All the best for the upcoming year!

Hi, Stacia.
This is a wonderful poem. You shared the texture of paper so well. I smiled reading your note. I think every writer can relate to the thrill of paper. Stephen King references a similar feeling toward paper in his book, Finders Keepers. I won't say more if you haven't read the book yet.
Best of luck in the contest.
A side note: Thank you again for the excellent notes on the chapter, Manny and Stanley. I am so appreciative of all your help!
Have a wonderful Happy New Year!
Bye
Rosalyne :)

Hi, Rosalyne! Thanks so much for the reading and review, and glad that the notes on Manny and Stanley helped:)
I have not kept up with King's more recent works so am unfamiliar with "Finders Keepers." I have to read it now--King is a wonderful writer, despite some of his critics' distaste because he is not "literary" enough (he's the bestselling author in English of all time, including the Bible and Shakespeare.)
Thank you again for stopping by:) Have a great New Year, and I'm looking forward to the next installment of "Manny."

Hi, Stacia.
Thanks so much for all you've given to me, from the classes to your amazing notes and help in editing!
Stephen King's book, Finders Keepers, is part of a trilogy. You don't have to read the first, but if you decide to, it's called, Mr. Mercedes.
I have always enjoyed his writing. For me, it doesn't have to be a literary read, but must have great characters and story, both of which he always delivers.
I just treated myself to his newest book today, The Bazaar of Bad Dreams, a collection of short stories.
I'll get the next chapter ready and send to you shortly.
Have a Happy New Year!
Thanks again for all you've done for me!
Bye
Rosalyne :)

This is a very good 2-4-2 poem you have penned. I love paper also. It totally intrigues me. I love the feel of it and when I get to write on it. Great job. Hugs, Teri

Paper is indeed an art form; there is real skill in its craft. I love going to Barnes and Noble and stationary stores just to look at the paper and notebooks sometimes!
Thanks again for stopping by.

Stacia, your husband must find it a pleasure to buy for you. Forget a bunch of flowers, just note books galore to bring on your smile :-) I too have lots of small journals and note pads...too many to use really.
A simple 2-4-2 Poetry contest entry describing the colour and texture of paper. If it weren't for the title or picture attached I would not have thought paper.
Good luck in the competition.

Thanks for stopping by again! My husband actually DOES by me flowers, but that's a thought--ask for just paper!
A good point that there is no reference to "paper" in the poem body--in one draft, it was the first line, but since it was just a repetition of the title, I changed it. It's something to think about, however.
Thanks again for the reading and review. Happy New Year!

I have at least 5 pretty note books that I don't want to write in because they are too pretty. Although I bought it for the purpose to write in. Call that crazy?

I bet many of us who love writing, also share this paper obsession! Others would shake their heads, and think, "it is just paper, what does it matter." You are producing quite a bit of new writing, you must be off of work for the holidays like I am :)

Hi, Linda! Yes, this is winter break--I'm a teacher--so I've been able to focus more on writing.
My desk is covered with pads of paper and notebooks! It's not just the aesthetic part, although that is important too, but the anticipation of how to fill them. I agree this is probably universal to writers.
Thank you for the reading and review. Happy New Year!

It seems the use of paper is dying out with the advent of a computer and keypad - also other ways to publish and read on line - unfortunately.
I've never been a great reader, but I understand the special feel of paper and a book, rather than an ipod or computer screen.
I like the suspense of what will be written, in your last line.
Nice one.
Good luck and best wishes, Ray

Hi, Ray! Thanks for stopping by.
I agree that use of paper and ink is literally a lost art. People used to make entire careers out of paper making and calligraphy.
Thanks again for stopping by. Have a great New Year:)

Lovely, good quality paper is a real luxury item, isn't it? You have to have something really important to write on that kind of paper. And good ink, too. I know what you mean. I have some paper I've been saving for years. It's like really expensive scent. You want to save it for a special occasion. Let's make this the year that we use all the beautiful things we've been hanging onto.
Nice thoughts, Stacia Ann.

Hi, Adrienne! Thanks for stopping by again. A good point about paper as a luxury item and how you want to save it for something special (which may never come up!)
Thank you again for the reading and review. Have a great New Year!
