This seven-word-or-less poem, Gold Substandard, touches on that well-known theory that you can't have wealth and happiness too. I would like to test that hypothesis.

This is a very good poem for the contest
Seven words limit what you can say
but you have said it well
Gold isn't everything
but it's nice to have a little
Given a choice, I'd pick joy
every time

Well written poem that depicts money is definitely not everything it is cracked up to be, and that there are many, much more important, things in life.

Uses terms such as "weights the soul" to much better illustrate this theme.

With the loss of joy one of its severest consequences.

Should be a good contest entry.
