Nancy, your talent is something to be respected and loved. Most of the poems I have read by you, I sometimes feel like you witnessed the story in the poem itself. Your knowledge of poetry and your ability to put into words a picture or a vision of the poem is something I have admired for a long time. You have done it in this poem as well.

Thank you for the awesome review, Larry. I wrote this after watching a movie that had a doctor like this one. I felt like the frontier doctor needed his story told. They had to be dedicated. I know at times it was the horse doctor who attended them. LOL Thanks again for the six. Big Hug! You have no idea what you have done for my ego. Nancy:)

Although I've never lived a life in the old west, like most kids who were my age, there is a special love for what we grew up watching and emulating. You're able to bring it all back and make it seem so real.

Thank you for this, Ric. Yes, I was in love with the old west from my earliest memories. Gene Autry was my hero. Those Saturday Afternoon Matinees were all the rage. Then there was Hoppy.

An excellent poem about a dedicated family doctor in the country. Unfortunately those days have long gone and it is hard to get a house call these days. Excellent rhyme and metre in this nostalgic and well written poem.

I wish there were doctors like him today. Too many are in that field to make money and not care for their patients. And all of them are trained in such a specialized field that they can't help the overall health of the patient. Great story poem, Nancy!

Even when we grew up in the 50's we had doctors who made home visits. These days we have trauma centers where we wait half a day! Those old frontier doctors were literally life savers.
