This is a wonderful testimony of your understanding
of death. I respect it and I share much of what you say.
But I think this contest is missing what is really the
the source of our fear. It isn't death that we are afraid
of, it's the dying. That is often out of our control and it
can be a nightmare. But I agree with you, death is but a
moment. However, dying can be prolonged and tortuous.

Simply amazing! I'm humbled by your writing. It strikes to the core. I imagine that you've gone through a lot but nowhere in your story have I seen you angry at death stealing away people from your lives. You seem to accept it as natural with no resentment and I admire that. Thank you for a beautiful lesson taught!

These are some remarkable accounts of love and remembrance that have touched me deeply. You've helped me reconnect with those memories of special folks who've made me feel important when I didn't, and helped me achieve when I wanted to just be left alone. All gone now, but remembered with great fondness. Nice reflection.

My fear of death ebbs and surges as a mirror image of my faith. Sometimes the
horrors of Earth eclipse my faith, and I am terrified at the thought of the end, the void, the nothing. Then I pull myself together, and ...you know the story. This is
a well-written post

Death is not something to fear, especially when you know there is a much better place waiting than this earthly existence. Well written story that should also be a good contest entry.

Very beautiful and well written essay. I will read it again when I have finished submitting this review. You have made the prospect of facing death not scary, but more the sort of thing we face every day. Thank you for sharing this wonderful writing.

I wanted to add that my favorite bit of your essay is the following, and I've read through it several times now. "The contacts we have enjoyed since that day have been uncanny and, although I know there are people who would rationalize every one of them into some logical explanation, I know the truth. I'm not interested in reasonable clarifications, valid or not to the person sharing them. I choose to believe the connection continues and to enjoy the benefits of an enduring relationship morphed into what I need today. "

I saw no typos in this piece. It was very well written with logical flow, and three examples of experiences with death. And of course, it made me weep like a freakin' baby. :) Thank you for writing this piece. Yes, the picture by your grandson suits the piece well.

WOW such great writing and such a message of hope: just a change of clothes for our souls, such a great line. I have little experience with death of those close to me (and can admit to having more of a fear than you!) so it is interesting to read an opposing perspective.
One minor edits: If I stop, if I be quiet and if I listen, I hear that small, still voice leading me through every valley.
I think you only need one If: If I stop, quiet myself, and listen I hear...
I didn't know what you meant by The contacts so I reread that a couple times.

A fine discourse on two eternal polarities; life and death. Both pose unanswerable questions. Both seem to contradict each other but really compliment each other and even enhance each other. So say wise men!
Can we really blend them together. Our author says that we can and he beautifully illustrates this possibility.
