I think as long and she knows and her friends and family recognize it, that is all that matters. She seems happy, and what a blessing to have lived to see all of those generations born after you, and to witness the never ending changes the world has gone through. What a sweet story, it is too bad the world doesn't recognize her, but I think she is okay with that.

I'm I getting senile, or did I just review this yesterday? I made a comment about how lucky and rich she was for having so much love around her, more than anyone could at a younger age.

Hi, Edward. Yes, you reviewed it. Maybe FS's hard drive is going senile ... not sure.

What a great story! I am personally interested in #1 and # 2 (2 marriages were more than enough for me!) I'm terrible at paperwork and am lucky to be able to prove that I can drive (although I have just successfully applied for Medicare, mostly due to their record keeping). You told a great, inspiring story succinctly and joyfully. thanks! Caroline

I am wondering if she was asked about her secrete what she would say To live a simple life and and don't worry about the unimportant things and to keep family first. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks, Barbara. This old lady is a devout Christian. She also tries to stay active and dependant as possible.

Hi, Curly Girly,

I was captivated by the summary of this woman's long life and considerations of it in this post. This was easy to read and follow... held my attention, had moments of humor and moments where I paused to think about the pros and cons of still existing in the far away future.

Why 'unofficially?' The answer is simple: she lost her birth certificate.
(I wondered, not sure... but I wondered: Why 'unofficially'? Or maybe itallics. Actually I'm not sure. But it is crazy that there isn't any other copy of her birth certificate or proof of her arrival. I mean, not crazy, I would probably have lost my birth certificate if it was only given to me... I think I've had to purchase one a few dozen times. I lose everything.

In the race of life, prepare your winning pathway(path?) by avoiding both pitfalls.
(though it's probably correct, I just think of pathways in terms of communication for some reason.... like a neural pathway)

Thanks, for reading. I'm rushing to catch up now. I spent my weekend cutting and carting wood after our spring winds knocked many of our trees flat. Thanks, Nicole.

I just read in today's paper about a woman turn 107 and she looked darn good. Love the remarks about insurance policies. Money would be a comfort if you can't dance or look good in sexy clothes anymore. A good wig can do wonders though to make you look younger. Also, with a lot of money, she could afford juvederm treatments every two years. I had one three months ago for mouth lines and cheek bones. My wrinkles fade a little more each day. Well worth the money.

Ah ... juvederm. That sounds like something I must look into one day.
    Thanks for reading.
The oldest person I ever met was a Jewish man, and he was 106! He came into the hospital for a routine cataract operation.

Very interesting. She may be mistakn about her age and year of birth, being so long ago. MOre likely she's in her 120s, which is the longest anyone has ever been known to live. Of course, she COULD be an outlier and really be approaching 150. THAT would make news!

It occurs to me that South Africa would have records of her birth. You can always get a copy of your birth certificate from the county/state where you were born. And there would be national benefits she qualified for at a certain age. Yes, there would surely be some records with age on them. So the fact no one ever produced one tells me she is wrong about her age. Still, to have all those descendants, she must be pretty darn old. :)

Thanks, Phyllis. Africa can be a trick to get paperwork done. I was in my late thirties when I got my long format birth certificate out of Zimbabwe. My parents divorced when I was young and refused to communicate to one another. Their problems came back to hit me on the head like a boomerang when we were in the process of immigration. Not funny. It took years to sort out.

If this is true, it's an amazing story. I haven't clicked on the link yet, but I can't wait to read on. To be honest, I don't think I'd like to live that long and outlive the people I love. I'm not quite sure what steroids have to do with it, but I get the feeling I'm about to find out!

Thanks, Alexis. Steroids have nothing to do with it. But the trend is to fail contestants because of them. That was a cynical observation on my part. Personally, I believe this story. The sad thing is, no matter how wonderful our achievements are on earth, others shrug them off.
