So sad, you can definitely feel the heart wrenching grief of the parents. This is best as a free style poem, wise choice.

You have certainly encompassed suffering here. Not of that dear little child, but the suffering and loss of a parent. But it all goes hand in hand. A mother hates to see her child suffer ... to lose a child .. unbearable pain. Good presentation and dedication to the parents who suffer such a loss ... to cancer ... to illness/tragedy/accident of any kind. Your poem is heartfelt and that comes to the reader in your free verse poem. You arouse strong emotions, but in a good way that heals. I hope this is not personal experience, if so my heartfelt sympathies. If you have just put yourself into this situation and have written it for other, well done, you've succeeded in capturing the intensity of the suffering. An excellent entry for the contest.
