Hi, Treischel,
"Disturbing others Peace" raises an interesting question. Given that we are free to do what we want within the limits of law and custom if we are wise and the fact that some of our habits are likely to annoy someone or other what are we to do? Cases in point; noise pollution, light pollution, perfume allergies, not cleaning up after dog. We can look at our behavior and try to anticipate what other people will not like but we cannot go around complaining about our neighbors without raising animosity.
This is a good poem. The figurative language is excellent (speeding, splashing, dashing). I cannot say that the form is one of my favorites.
Your friend and colleague,
Preston

Thank you Preston, I found it an interesting exercise, as I concluded that we are fast to criticize others, and slow to see our own faults. The format forced that introspection, for me at least. I appreciate you comments and input.

Great point, Tom. Don't you think the poor fish get soooo tired of us intruding in their territory??!! Thanks for sharing --

Do I behave as callous as they,
Creating chaos with my own
Wave and wake?
Do my ripples pummel quiet shores,
While I go blithely by?

Somehow, I think that the answer to this one is NO... no you do not.
I'm thinking that you're mostly a quiet man, looking on... watching things...
and enjoying the sights and (most of the) sounds...
I"m with you... the noise is rather bothersome... I enjoy the quiet, but
not the ruckus... Just give me a lovely ripple in the water... and something to write on, a camera...something to record... or draw with...

I'm good. It will be a good day.

Well done. An interesting form. I liked it.

Stank you Cat. I sort of thought this style would appeal to you as it cones to you so naturally. And thank you for your kind comments. I try to be considerate, but I do get over critical sometimes. A trait I inherited from my dad.

Thank you for analyzing Alan's poem and emulating its "Chinese style". I appreciated another photograph from your Mississippi cruise, even though it showcased one of the annoying speed boats! Your descriptive scene with alliteration and your introspection are quite appealing. Big cheers- Joan

As always with this highly gifted and generous poet, we have again, another great lesson in poetry and one that I would guess is very rare indeed. I shall study this in great detail before taking the challenge of applying it as he has so skillfully demonstrated! But first a sincere "thank you" for another gift of your mind! Vance

I think you have done a terrific job emulating my poem ( and hers). I stayed pretty well to the substance of her poem as far as the topic went in the form of ideas and content. There is more of her poetry in Women Poets of China by Kenneth Rexroth and Ling Chung available in Amazon. The poem is called."Night Street. Best wishes And good luck with the poem.

I think that there are several Asian poetry styles, and I don't know if you got the one you were trying for, but I like what you had to say and the questions you asked. I am aware that you like to try different styles, and are very good at them, by the way. But, for me, I like the content and message of the poem over the technical parts of poetics. And for that, I think you hit the nail on the head as far as questioning the disturbances we create as we blithely go through life. I prefer walking to driving so that I may observe the nature and people around me as I travel.
Thank you for the many images and messages you wrote. It was a delight to read, and it left me pondering, which I like.

Peace, Jesse James

A good try on a poem you don't know much about, I don't know either about that, but follow your lead if there is an opportunity to do so. That is quite a nuisance when people make unnecessary noise with their boats, motor cycles or quad bikes whatever can make a noise is disturbing.

I remember Snow Leopard. It seems to me that you've got it. You have certainly caught the feeling of frustration amongst the other, less frenetic river users. Our rivers have speed limits but then yours are much wider so i suppose they can get away with it.
