Wow! Is all I can muster at this point. What a welcome. I can only imagine how you stood open mouthed catching flies, when you realized that your mother knew who you were and was actually welcoming you into her home.
This is surely more than you had ever hoped for. I gathered that by the mumbo jumbo you presented her with when she opened the door:)
I just love this story. It's very naturally written and sad in a way, yet quite remarkable. I am so happy for you.

After the extensive search, you found your mother, and she was pleased to see you. She asked you to give up your motel and stay with her. Then you two sat down to wine and a meal.
I didn't feel the emotion that I expected. Maybe, more dialogue a genuine hug--any way after such a search, it all seemed very mechanical/formal and organizational( a moment in the house/situating motel vs her house, wine/ a meal.

Well, first, thanks for the review. I see what you are saying but after 51 years of neither of us ever seeing nor knowing each other the whole situation is awkward. You just don't fall into each others arms. It's just not that simple. But if you read between the lines a lot is going on emotionally. If you read on as I hope you will, much more will be revealed. All best, Ulla

It's amazing that all of this is a part of your life. This is a wonderful chapter and I hope I can keep up with chapters to come. What a wonderful way to end this chapter, the mother asking for forgiveness. -Bill

What a wonderful and well written story. I'm not familiar with the story leading up to this point, but this part can certainly stand alone. I look forward to reading more of this encounter. I found no problems.

Wow, this is great. An intense story about meeting your mother. You walk the reader through your fears and trepidation. The is very visual. I can also see it. The closing line is a stunner, "Can you ever forgive me?" I thought about relatives who gave up babies for adoption but have yet to be visited by the grown child they gave away. Thank you for sharing your life and your writing.

This is one of those 'almost too good to be true' types of stories. Isn't it wonderful how you hit it off right from the beginning? I do wonder about the story behind the story: what will come out to bridge all those missing years.

Not all reunions are that happy. I know of one where a man was adopted at birth and lived as an only child. He found his birth siblings who were not very happy to see him. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words.

Oh, well, that's a good start. I am relieved to hear that she was at home, and that she was so welcoming to you. It was helpful that you looked similar, not all mothers do. I am sure you will forgive her, that is why you are there, and to find out a bit more.
