A toaster is like a road-raged driver. They pop up any time the want. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a good read.

Thanks Bro Charlie. Appreciate you coming by. It looked good on the box but as I said to Ron Craig there was NO choice. So we will return it and have a look elsewhere.

The sunbeam plant was once near a home I had in South Arkansas. They made those things there. Glad you got a better one. Thanks for sharing, Bro.

LOL - Been there; done that!
Don't you just hate it when "old reliable" breaks down!!! Especially if you really liked the appliance.

I used to have a toaster the was mounted under the cupboard (it had a front facing door that tilted open and closed) - it was so perfect! Never taking up space on the counter, but always immediately available. - I literally cried when I found out no one made a replacement. (And I'd only had it for 16 years. In the next 12 years I went through 5 replacements. :-(

Hope you find what you want when you take yours back to exchange it :-)

hey friend. Well we will get a refund at that store as they have nothing else but where we SHOULD have gone other day, will have plenty of choice. We were at the physiotherapist and it was pissing rain (I have a battle getting my wife back into the car in rain seeing she is in a wheelchair and it takes her a while to get her knee in the right place getting up out of the chair and into the car. ) So we opted to just come home instead. Thanks again.

This is amusing. We never have enough counter space for all our stuff. Our coffeemaker went kaput recently. Water leaked out. Fortunately, we had a big tray under the machine to catch the water. We've learned from past experience that those high-priced machines can go bad. Four slices would mean a pretty big toaster. Ours does just two slices, so doesn't take up so much room. This is interesting. Concise, but you say all you need to. judi

Thanks Sis, had to rant hehe. Someone asked about the title I think most figured out what I was getting at a great big four toast top hehe. We do consider going back to 2 slice and me may yet do so!

You're very welcome. We have a two-slice, so we daintly eat only one piece of toast each. judi

Loved your short article on the wisdom of, or lack thereof purchasing a suitable toaster as an essential part of kitchen and culinary equipment, we've owned those that blow one's powerboards, they can do that! well done, here's hoping Geoff, blessings, Roy

Yeah I did think how fortunate only the single little element got the crack in it and we didn't have to go around to get the circuits going again!

Hey there, I'm sorry for your toaster troubles. Although I don't get the title, I quite enjoyed this short story about your day. I think life is greater than fiction and people should write like this more often. It's interesting and fun. Thank you for sharing.

Of course. The title makes much more sense and is humorous. Thank you once again!

Sankey--
Thanks, I know this unfortunate feeling. For me mostly regarding toaster ovens with control functions too small to read without glasses so toast gets baked and potatoes get toasted, etc. My wife, in particular, laments these machines, it takes about ten minutes to toast her English muffins to the right degree of brown. She yells every time she uses the machine that it is impossible. Frankly, I like them better when fried in butter! My "bad cholesterol" is low!
