Kids are a lot stronger and resistant than we think. Of course there's those that fall through the cracks. Yet, this story/poem shows a positive attitude, even without parents there's a solution. Wonderfully penned. Les

Nice little tribute to Jax Franklin. Some times a favorite Teacher is never forgotten by their students. Well said. Held interest throughout.

Recollection of school day and family mixed together to form a sense of all joy and happiness. Even by the time the kid mislead and tortured by the school mates the mom played a great role to make the girl grow. Parenting efforts highlighted makes the family people read and read on.

This was the first one of yours that I read. It was so touching that I read the other two on your page.
I was taken by your mother's love and the fact that it was your own daughter...
My parents could have given a rats ass...
Maybe that's why I felt for you...you do.
I'm going to check out more of your portfolio...

Thanks for reviewing!! Beyond appreciated & btw......... I had a Dad who didn't give a rats ass, then had one who came along & cared too much (lol!). Next thing I know, I'm an adult & now have two. One who is further than he was the entire time I was growing up & the other - still caring for almost everyone but himself it often feels like. Then again, that's just what I did/often do.

    So, I'm a hot mess, I get it. It's okay though 'cause I embrace it. :) <3 Jill P.

2nd review: hey JP - a couple more minor suggestions ...

Senior in high school now(,) still well on her way
to becoming somebody someday. (I'd take out the period and use a dash)
The(the) girl all the kids will still talk about,
after school from the second they walk in, (this line isn't clear - you say "after school" but in the same breath 'from the second they walk in' - so it leads to some time confusion) - do you mean 'from the second they walk in, then all through school?'
just like my daughter did.

They'll be non-stop talking(talking non-stop) about her, (that girl
who grew up and became their favorite art teacher ever).( I think I 'd put this last bit in italics, just to drive the point home) :)Sharyn

Love it, JD. Sounds like we are similarly protective parents - I'm sure my son's teachers used to run for cover whenever they saw me pull up! Bullying wasn't the problem - he was ADD, so a 'motor-mouth' on occasions - just enough to drive teachers crazy, which led to some VERY interesting interactions.

Just a little grammatical confusion in your last verse which made me go back and re-read for 'sense'. See below: When you say 'the girl all the kids will still talk about', 'girl' is singular, 'kids' plural, of course ... but that leaves 'just like mine did' sort of hanging in the air so I have to go back and see exactly who / what you're referring to. you? kids? daughter? Obviously you're referring to the fact that your daughter used to chat on about her favorite art teacher, but it gets a bit lost in the wash of words there. You might want to clarify that last line? Even if you just come straight out and SAY it: 'Just like my daughgter did'.

:)Sharyn

My daughter was practically labeled the day she started kindergarten (feels that way to me at least) & ADD we can more than relate to. In fact, she still sees the same Psychiatrist for that, that she's been seeing since early elementary. There's more to this girls story though, all hard to believe for even me still but, to make a really long story short (just for now anyhow):

This past summer she was provided with demo aids, which quickly proved that a once considered "mild loss" in hearing, wasn't so mild & she now has a pair of her own. The difference, especially with school (i.e. grades, homework) a complete 180 than every single year prior. I'll save the rest for another day, mostly 'cause I started crying just typing about it. Again.

Regarding your feedback, you nailed it!! I've been struggling with that very same piece of it!! Will they get it? Does it hit them as hard as it does me every time I read it? (etc, etc). So THANK YOU for finally confirming for me the one thing I couldn't for sure!! I'm definitely switching it up, yes!!!

    <3 Jill

If you're interested, I would love to hear what you think about the ending of it now, as I did a little more revising to it today than what I had done with it initially (after your review specifically). Would love to hear your thoughts on it. :)

I don't know how any of us survived high school. Teenagers are monsters and sociopaths as far as I'm concerned. The schools say they don't tolerate bullies, but that is crap.

_ Such a beautiful daughter!
_ I can see how proud you are for the way she handled those bullies.

_ Thanks for the kudos in the notes---but, darlin' it was your daughter all the way!
_ Wish I had a sixer left for you---but here's one comin' attcha. (*<*)
_ Hugs to you both!
